Nah, my team is not even trying. Besides, I'm pretty sure they just make a different team win every day anyway. Just look at how it's going right now: Pink team is WAY in front, and all other teams are practically tied.

Not sure if the higher tiered contributors get higher chance or if it is completely random

Actually that is because people arranged to let each color win at least one day. Well on reddit I saw the call for this. And its human nature not to even try if the other team is picking up points faster than anyother in the race, ie: save your points for when your team is up front.

Yeah it's perfectly fine to play on your own. It's basically a platformer where you have to collect a certain number of gems and then find the exit, so pretty simple, but I imagine it can get quite tricky later on, especially on the missions where you have a time limit.

There's definitely some type of rigging going on though. I find it difficult to believe that these massive point leads are because of reddit collusion.
