What MMOs are you currently playing

Surprised we don't have a thread like this here. Post what you are currently playing, why, what you like about it, what you don't like about it and what you stopped playing recently and why.

I think it will give us all a nice sounding board as well as a place to pickup an MMO again we left off or a new one we have not played based on the mini recommendations/warnings of the posters.

I will start then:

Stopped playing Wildstar:

Loved the game, loved the levelling experience, loved the stories and whimsical play, LOVED the housing. Got 2 characters, one on each faction to max and entered the "elder game". Played the adventures and enjoyed them and then moved on to the dungeons and came to a dead stop.

All through the game you know that it is an action game but avoiding the telegraphs of the mobs is easy, you have time to think and make tactical choices as to whether you are going to interrupt them or dodge them. It is actually quite fun and sort of like GW2 but scaled up quite a lot in complexity in combat.

Once you hit the "elder game" dungeons you realise that you need a really good ping and an even better reaction speed. I have neither and I prefer games where I can put some thought into the next action, a tactical game. The end game dungeons are all about split second reactions, constant movement and mashing of keys at a rapid rate. Wildstar stated that the end game is for the "skilled". They obviously define "skill" as reaction speed. My "skill" lies in tactical play. After experiencing these dungeons for a day, I stopped playing the game. I had seen all that I can see as a "casual", nothing left to do. Classic 3 monther, almost to the day.

Currently dabbling in FireFall again, lots has changed and it is still fun despite being a vanilla levelling MMOFPS now. Also playing some Landmark, I find the concept fascinating and I love building things.

On the horizon? Star Citizen, the Division.

Good thread. I'm not playing any MMOs at the moment and I haven't played one in a long time. I do feel like giving one a try in a couple of months time so this thread will be amazing to see what people are enjoying.

Taking a break from MMO's for bit. They suck up so much time that I don't get a chance to play other games and that's no good.

Haven't played one in a LOOOOONG time... focus primarily one SP and RPGs at the moment.

Havent played Wildstar in awhile and need to get back into it, just had a break when i had to travel for work and just never started playing again

Will start playing WoW again when WoD drops.

My time has been limited, or rather my MMO motivation has been lacking. I have however been playing in the last month:

1. Star Wars : Old Republic

I didn't play it when it launched, didn't get into it when it went F2P and then about 2 months ago tried again out of boredom. If you go after the stories and the voice acting and basically just "play the story" , then you can get very hooked into the game and i enjoy that. However i still find the combat boring and repetitive, the quests (outside of the story) also becomes boring quite fast as the entire concept is classic MMO "quest hub -> grab quests -> do them -> hand in -> repeat" .

There's however a ton load of content. I liked the whole space combat thing, although it's almost an entire sub-game on its own, which made me wonder whether i'm not simply better off playing a dedicated space sim if i'm really into that.

The population is also pretty good, so it's quite active after all this time.

Anyway i lost some drive because i reached the level stages where things slow down and the story wasn't progressing as fast as before. So you are "forced" to "grind" to advance the story and then things get a little meh, or maybe it's just the specific planet that was somewhat lackluster. I will probably still log in on random days and do a few quests...wonders of F2P.

2. Firefall

This is a MMO shooter , i guess it's somewhat of a "Borderlands Online" , with jetpacks and various typical MMO things. I played it alot in beta, sufficiently that the game is not exactly new or fresh anymore. The combat and flying around keeps me entertained, it is just plain fun to kill stuff (unlike SWTOR above). However there's almost zero story. It has a kind of a "Skyrim-finished-main-plot" sense to it, you know, you kinda wander around and do random quests, leveling some skills, crafting whatever and just fool around....i don't have anything specifically i focus on in this game.

The "feel" of the game in terms of theme and "how you play" , feels alot like Farcry to me . There's the gliders, tropical island thing , job boards and now even the whole tower unlock to open parts of map thing .

I have just today got Everquest Landmark (or just Landmark it seems to be called now), will probably check it out for kicks, but won't be committing serious time until it actually launch.

I am also still following Elder Scrolls Online . I did actually enjoy the lvl 1 - 50 part of the game , the veteran content/part sucked the life out of me, but i felt i would definitely return some day to play the rest of the veteran content if they make it more "rewarding" . As far as news goes, this is exactly what they are adjusting, but i'll also wait a bit to see about the subscription future....if it was F2P i would most likely still be logging in at least (just like i'm logging into SWTOR every now and then).

Still not interested in Wildstar, i might consider it when the subscription drops, but i played the beta and i felt SWTOR will be more rewarding to play through than Wildstar at this point in time.

I recently got to experience my very first outing in an MMO. Thanks to Wyvern I started playing the free version of Wildstar. It was a very overwhelming experience. So much stuff to know and to do, and I got lost in all the setting, stats, options and actions. At the moment it intimidated me so that I don't really play it anymore, but I might pick it up in a few weeks.

I'm not playing any MMO's at the moment, I think the golden age has passed and if they want to attract players again they will have to come out of their comfort zone.

I am keeping an eye on Wildstar, and will probably buy it when it's sub $10 if I can get the first month for free. Thereafter it's unlikely that I will renew it for very long, unless they allow me to buy X-amount of hours in game rather than X-amount of hours whether I am in game or not.

Or I'll just wait for them to inevitably end up F2P.

Wildstar's questing bored me to tears so i dropped it before the first month ended.

Currently messing around with Firefall and Landmark (if i can get it running without crashing). Also started leveling a new troll druid in wow and a Klingon tactical officer in STO.

I can't believe Guild Wars 2 hasn't been mentioned? It's been my MMO poison since a month after launch and I still love it. Still waaaaaaay too many things to do in the game - map completion, jumping puzzles, slayer achievements, crafting... And not to mention trying out each class. I have 3 characters, one at 80 and 2 mid-50.

GW2 all the way, since taking a different approach and all the changes in the +-1 and a half year of not playing I enjoy it a lot and having a active guild of friends helps tons. nearly done with the collection for my legendary :D

Also currently playing wildstar and still learning a lot, And Marvel avengers online i play too currently leveling up my deadpool my scarlet witch is lvl 33 atm

Started to occasionally mess around with Guild Wars 2 again. Actually never reached level 80 with our characters. It just bored me so much the first time around. I still struggle to really get "into" it but it's a beautiful game and I enjoy the story.

Also been playing the ArcheAge beta and it seems like it has a lot of "fun" things to do outside of questing. But like all betas, I struggle to really immerse myself when I know that my character is going to be deleted. Apart from that, I enjoy it and even though the story isn't its strong point, it's not bad.

I'm worried about its cash shop though. It seems like you may need to occasionally waste money on "labour" points or otherwise keep the game running to allow it to charge up again if you've been using it a lot. I'm not sure, to be honest.

Also started screwing around with Firefall again. I have to admit, I both enjoy and hate it (though that seems to be my gold standard with every MMO I play). I like the mechanics, I like the gameplay but it feels like there's too little "real" content in the world, just a regurgitating quest system which clearly intends to just be a "grab quest, do quest" thing instead of giving you some silly illusion that it matters.

Oh well.

ArcheAge may be the MMO I invest myself in. Maybe. Maaaaaaaaaybe. Just because of all the random crap you can get up to inside the game. But who knows.

*sadface*

You have to come join up in GW2... It'll grow on you and then never let go. :D Try out some PvP or WvW or do a dungeon or jumping puzzle if you want to PvE... There's SO much to do in the game!

Getting back into Neverwinter. New class to play, Scourge Warlock with their new expansion. Good fun.

Still only GW2 for me. Went back to my (Norn) ranger last night and enjoyed playing after I bought some decent gear. A muscled giant in a coat, dainty pants and pirate had just didn't look good. Low level gear sucks... Bought some level 55 gear strewn with skulls and a cyborg mask and now he looks the part.

Also finishing the trek with my (Charr) guardian. Touching level 70 now and I'm enjoying him. Might overtake my Engineer as my favourite class!

Got a invite to Archeage this weekend but the stupid glyph downloader is so slooooow. Been downloading on and off since Thursday night but should be able to play around 5 this afternoon.
