What MMOs are you currently playing

Now that I'm single again, I can afford to resub to WoW.

Been catching up on flexi raids and the Black Prince quest chain since my absence. Feels good to be back.

Btw, this is year 7 of me playing WoW. Help...

The only MMO I really managed to get into was Everquest II, but I haven't played an MMO in a while. I see there's quite a few new ones out and coming out.
Will need do some research and youtubing ;)

Playing Neverwinter again made me realise very quickly what put me off of it the first time around: loot means very little. The game has the usual currency: gold but you cannot buy any gear with it. You can only buy gear with Astral Diamonds (from other players). Astral Diamonds are earned through daily tasks and spending real money.

So when money drops and vendor items drop you regard them with disdain, knowing that they are not really going to help you progress.

Regardless, I will play a bit here and there. Still putting most of my time into Firefall, it is a really fun shooter MMO, more so with friends.

Put some time into Archeage this weekend. It seems ok but im not sure about the whole labour point system. The animations are nice and flashy.

I'm kinda itching to buy an Albion online founders pack.

Also wondering about Albion Online, when is it releasing though? I'm a sucker for founder's packs and Albion looks like an interesting combination of Ultima and Diablo .

As for MMOs right now, i guess it's still Firefall for me. Slowly going for lvl 40 on my Bastion frame and dabbling in random other frames.

Downloaded Neverwinter again and rolled a Warlock , it seems like a fun class , but i have not had quite the motivation to play through all the same content for the 5th time (yes i have 5 characters all between 20 and 60). When the Ranger was released, i played that class from 1 to 60 and had fun because the class itself was rather unique and interesting to play (compared to the others). So as long as the Warlock is equally unique, i will probably dabble here and there, but ultimately i can do with a new story or zone which is not necessarily player made content (although looks like that is my only choice).

ArchAge is not quite grabbing me from what i've read and seen, it sounds like a rather "laborious" type of game, i would probably then rather just invest time in Landmark. Speaking of which, i've dabbled in Landmark, must say i was quite impressed with what you can build and the detail you can go into. The catch is, it is alot of work and patience and there's no real "game" yet. At least they make it quite easy to build a simple house.

Great game, love it. Sadly its in closed beta so a whipe of all the resources you have gathered and all the items made will come, the reason I am not playing it at the moment. They are adding combat on the 27th of August, as well as PVP where you make PVP arenas for people to come join in on.

Once it is in open beta (soft launch, no more whipes) I will be playing it a LOT. It has everything I want in a game already: exploration, building and item crafted based progression. Also why I like Firefall. I used to love exploring hard to get to places and prospect for rare resources. That has mostly been removed from the latest iteration of Firefall, although I am still able to do it to a certain degree.

I know that feel. Resubbed 2 months ago after a two year break (swore I'd never play again). Working on getting my 4th 90 now - the rest are still trying to get their Valor Points for the bastard Black Prince chain. :(

Yeah mine was a 2 year relationship as well.

But hey - shit happens and we move on. I'm here if you need a forumite.

Yeah I was always too lazy to do the Wrathion chain but I started and I'm currently on the valor section as well.

Also busy working on the Loremaster achievements.

Server/faction? I'm Horde and Alliance on Defies Brotherhood EU (gave up on my US account years ago - time difference was too much)

the MMORPG world is fun and all but omg it can suck you into that world. Its hard to get out very hard. I played a MMORPG for 5 years before going off it. Even then i could not stop from going on and seeing whats new, I then stopped that a year later.

I miss the whole guild fights the boss fights the raids ect ect. but the time needed omg, I more aimed at the MMO than real life, that was dark days in my gaming life. I dont look back at it as a bad thing but dont think i could go into a MMORPG anymore unless my significant other was playing it was well

^This. It's why I stopped. But, like any drug, it just took a quick look and I was instantly hooked again.

ahhh man yea thats what im afraid of lol. I went back to wow but then again said to my self... DO i want to grind all the way to the top level again ><. Then went off, never went on again :D

I even see wow everyday when i log onto Bnet, but then again i do play D3 but thats not a MMORPG like wow

Gave Archeage another shot over the weekend. To me it really feels like a generic Asian mmo with some sandbox elements (mostly locked behind a sub). It doesn't even look that great especially if you compare it to something like GW2. Decided its not my cup of tea and uninstalled it last night.

I attempted to play ArcheAge, a game that I'd anticipated playing, again for the fourth BETA weekend. I literally had to force myself to continue playing each time. Generic environment/monsters and terrible combat system. I may try again (sucker for punishment?) during the OBT, but thus far, it's definitely not for me.

I am playing some The Secret World again, they released a new zone (Tokyo) somewhere in June/July , which expands on the story and adds a new combat mechanic . The amusing part, i've not been able to get into Tokyo as of yet, i'm still playing through the content that was released since i left the game.

There are about 4-5 quest bundles aka "Issues" before the Tokyo issue. You don't have to do them, but Funcom in their infinite wisdom decided to gate-block Tokyo with 2 options:

1. You repeat "scenarios" until you get n-tokens (these are kinda like solo/coop mini-dungeons involving objectives like keeping useless NPCs alive and taking on waves of enemies ).
2. You do a certain quest-line (which is within these additional quest packs) and get a forged seal to get into Tokyo.

Either way, i initially got back and got my arse handed to me around every corner, reminding how difficult this MMO can be. I had to find new builds and do a total makeover on what i thought was a good all-around build. This game is quite complex with all these open-ended abilities.

I did the Indiana Jones like mission pack (Issue #6) and barring a few very difficult situations where i had to change my build between fights (from AOE to single target) it was quite impressive. I was especially impressed with the whole Train to Cairo where one mission is entirely fought on top of a moving train (you run on the roof, fight on the roof, jump across cars and such). It even had this indiana jones type of music going , very cool.

The combat is still clunky, especially if you come from Firefall where it's very smooth and fast paced.

Since the game is Free 2 Play with the missions packs costing between $8-$10 , i think it's still pretty good value for what you get.

Here is a sample of the Train to Cairo Mission

Signed up for a month of Eve, it has been 5 years since I played it and it is a massive learning curve, especially since the game has changed so much!

Will see how the month goes and if I get bored with it again.
