Official Destiny Thread

Well I dunno. The install time for Diablo 3 was very quick. Can't remember noticing anything really. Destiny should be installed automatically so it might add a few extra minutes to the first launch time.

Thanks, I might then go home to start the install/download (I only like a kilometer from work).

I assume people with the disc version will need to install as well?

Install time is about 2 mins max, when it's done just start the game and it will automatically start it's update

Dam I need to pick this up, its been a long month already though =/

Way too many things need buying, I have a feeling this might get the better of me though

Hey guys, I'm pretty keen to get this game, but I'm not sure how bad the latency is going to affect the gameplay. I have a Telkom mobile connection that usually gives me a ~260ms latency playing Diablo 3 (I used to get around 200ms with ADSL). Are there local servers or is the data update done in sucha way to reduce latency? Answers anybody?

This thread pisses me off...

I have to say it was such a poor decision to make this a console exclusive (yes I know there will most likely be a PC version in a year from now). I really wanted to play this but I won't be buying a next gen console just for one game...ugh

Enjoy your game guys.

It's a MMO/FPS Hybrid so you will connect to server in the EU. The net code is "bawss" Bungie made the game so you are in good hands.

*edit*
Got kicked off as soon as I wanted to play, seems like their servers are under strain. Oh well I will play later tonight got a few assignments to work on.

The server connection is one thing, and it goes without saying that it is necessary, but do how often do they send data to the servers and what data? i.e. Are hit calculations done locally and then passed to the server or are they done server side and then passed back to you? This will determine how seemless the online play is and plays a big role in the apparent latency. An example would be Diablo 3, where EVERYTHING is done server side and passed back, thus making the delay between a button press and the result on screen very obvious. This delay is highly noticeable even though Blizzard's net code is excellent (post-error 37).

I folded and traded in and got my 30% buy back bonus! Paid R222 for Destiny as opposed to R755 :D

Yeah, I also traded. Went there even with PS4 games. Thankfully most of my PS3 games (which I probably won't play) was enough and only paid in R320 and get to keep my growing PS4 library ^_^

On a lighter note =P

TODAY is the best day to do it as you'll get a 30% back on trade-ins for a day of release title.

Should at least get R300 for that I'd say.

yeah it does.

After struggling to track the parcel I phoned Kalahari and I was told the tracking numbers are screwed, they kind of gave me another one that might be the correct one. Can't track the parcel with that either. So yeah my parcel is somewhere out there all alone.

I just came from the Post Office and the lady there said they are on a strike in Joburg:eek:
Nightmare fuel!!!!!

Yeah and the agent at Kalahari told me the strike was over. Face it man, we might be playing before the weekend. Best to not get your hopes up.

Off the top of my head... I don't think BT accepts Steel tins because they do not have barcodes unless it has a sleeve cover.

FF XII-2 you will might get R120

Everything else would total about R250-300 at a push.

I am not at work so I can't give exact amounts - then again I am not allowed to as people think it's a promise of price when it is dependant on the quality of the disc and a few other factors.

Just got off the phone with Kalahari and they said I can expect it on the 15 of September. The effing phone call cost me about R50. The first and last time I ever use kalahari. I've used Takealot for just about a decade and never had any problems.

That sucks bud, sorry to hear.

But looking ahead, I have one word for you, Raru!

Can confirm. This is typical of Kalahari.

UNISA knew before I started this semester that the post office was on strike, how did Kalahari not know it too?
