Windows..Too much too soon?

File copying from one Window to another? And installation of Software - is this also simpler and easier.

no look software installation doesn't change cause that's third party, it's just 'n hell of a lot quicker

You guys are making me want to upgrade now !

Let me at least get my SSD first

Dude I would get an SSD first over any piece of hardware... You actually don't realize what a difference it makes until you experience it...

We were having this discussion at work last week. Especially for development, an SSD is incredibly beneficial. An I7, 8GB RAM and an SSD makes compiling large applications a dream. It's nigh on instant!

Our one DEV even complained that he can't grab a coffee while his PC starts up in the mornings anymore... He now has to start WORKING as soon as he sits down.

I personally don't have money for an SSD, but will still install Windows 8, regardless.

Windows 8(.1) will love you and treat you like marshmallow-in-hot-chocolate good when you give it some space to stretch its legs on an SSD one day. But until then, it will still be better than it's ancestor, 7. Disregard all the evil nay-sayers of "Modern (ex-Metro) UI" and just take the plunge.

I bought a SSD for my crappy old Lenovo G450 and turned it into a monster. Best thing I could ever buy. Laptop now boots into Windows 8.1 in about 8 seconds.

Personally I hate Metro crap but thanx to Classic shell I have all the goodness of Windows 8 and still feel asif I am running 7 UI wise. Besides looking at what 9 is doing menu wise it was not such a bad decision as Microsoft itself is returning to the classic menu system.
