Is gaming an addiction?

Anything can become an addiction. I just think id depends on whether you want to do it or need to do it

I agree it definitely can be addictive. My brother in law is definitely addicted. He comes home from work and within 5 minutes is in front of the TV playing online competitively, no helping the wife with the kids or preparing food. And you haven't seen grumpy until you try and pull him away.

What an ass...my family always comes first. You can always game later imho. Remember a few times where my little son walked to me while playing something vicious (Dead Space at one time.) Quit the game right there, played again when he was asleep later the night.

Agreed, gaming is addictive. It's been compared to gambling addiction. I've had family members addicted to gaming (specifically WoW)

If I've got time to play games, I take it. If I don't have time to play games, I'm fine with that. Just not for more than a couple of days :p

With a family there isn't always time, but when I get a 15 minute break to do something, and I can accomplish something meaningful in a game (like sinking two ships in AC4), I take it :D

Definitely hard to find time when you have a job and family, mostly the time I get to game is late at night when the family is asleep (the reason I'm always tired), or I might squeeze in a half hour before I go to work now and then.

Story of my life :D

Given 2 days all to myself, I would use them for gaming, but I would totally stop to eat and sleep. Plus showering and bathroom breaks would also be a necessity

I've seen in articles that people have actually died from "gaming"... that's what started the controversy...

Usually people in South Korea and China. I've even read of people there selling their children to support their gaming

I rate gaming isn't addictive unless you think it is... you must either hate you children or REALLY love your game to be able to do that^

I'm a morning person, so this has become a habit for me. Although it's hard to get multiplayer matches at 05h00 in the morning (unless you play on overseas servers)

Oooh, where are Matt and Beotek.....fighting talk that is Eugene!
