1155 ram speeds to motherboard support speeds

Been out of the loop a while, and having a hard time understanding the correlation of ram:mb:cpu speeds.

Take these three components as an example:

Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3:
Support for DDR3 2133/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules

i7-2600k:
Memory Types DDR3-1066/1333

And some Corsair CMX8GX3M2A2000C9, XMS 3 ddr3-2000:
8GB XMS Memory kit for dual channel systems, 2000MHz, 9-10-9-27, 1.65V

Am I right in saying on default settings this ram will run at 1333, and to get 2000 speeds I'll need to overclock?

Otherwise when something faster than the 2600k becomes available for the 1155 socket it might have higher supported memory types?

Or am I understanding this all wrong :wtf:

Go for 1.55 v ram, those are recommended for sandy bridge. If you want corsair look at the vengeance ram, specificly designed for sandy bridge.

You can overclock your ram. You set your ram speed idependent from the fsb speed. You use the multiplier to overclock the cpu. In order to overlclock on sanday brdige you need a p67 mobo not h67 and a 2500/2600k cpu. Only the k's have unlocked multipliers, the others are very limited.
