5 bad sequels that happened to good games

I from the comments on Bioshock 2, I dont understand why many gamers dont like it or just hate it. I thought it was a really good game. And sequels arent there to give us game1.2. It's something new.

BioShock 1 had a very deep narrative, 2 failed to capitalise on the deep history of Rapture and the universe. Instead it tried cheap thrills to cash in on the bioshock title.

and it reused over 80% of the original game's assets as far as i could see while i was playing the game

Yeah was such a pain to play. The difference between the two in terms of being good was night and day.

I dunno, for me it just doesn't say "sequel". 15 years is just too long between the 2.

Well, there has been other DN games between the two.. I'll agree, though, that in the feel of the game, DNF did not touch on DN3D. Such a waste of perfectly good IP.

What about Duke Nukem Manhatten project from 2002?

Duke Nukem: Time to Kill – 1998 – PlayStation

In B4 Lycanthrope

Arcania - Gothic 4.
Shitty sequel made by a different company to Piranha Bytes

I'll throw Fable III into the ring.

Bioshock 2 really seemed like an expansion for Bioshock rather than a sequel. Not much new, and the story didn't have much on the first one, plus it had lost it's novelty. That said, I still enjoyed playing it. Definitely want to get my hands on Bioshock Infinite when it comes out

You could say Fable II as well but def Fable III.

yes but they're not considered Canon sequels to the dn3d story

Same applies to movies, you had american pie 1,2,3 then you had spinoffs such as american pie presents this, that, wotever and only now 9 years later american pie 4 is coming out.

I dont consider DNF cannon.

As far as I see it they were both released on the same date.

Doesn't matter though, it doesn't make them any better :p

Hmm, you're correct once again - don't know why I only recall ever seeing it on PSP. I've updated the article to reflect this, thanks! :)

Red Alert 3 was one of the biggest letdowns I can remember.
And then there was a bunch of mortal Kombat spin-offs like Mythologies: Sub Zero, Deadly Alliance and Deception. And then there was the last Oddworld game, I can't even remember the name but it was a long dump off of Abe's Oddessey.
The people that make shitty sequels like this should be taken out and shot somewhere.

Dragon Age 2. Should've been titled differently, because it's nothing like the first one (and it's shit in comparison, decent game when not compared)
