A GTX 970 is the bare minimum needed to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, says NVIDIA

I think they mean to run it on Full settings. at least the 1st site I find looking for the requirements for the game said so.

Not even full I think. just at 1920x1080 on High (not Ultra) and then getting alt east 60fps. I think that is how I understood it. And then 980ti to play it at full

Sjoh, not sure! If it is then i want another one now! Maybe I have just need up to date with the new pricing.

Well I got mine at that price. But anyway, I'm just saying, I don't actually know especially with the current rate of our currency.

Really? What did you get? Black Friday perhaps? You struggle to get them for under 6K I see. Bought mine in Black Friday for 6500 I think. But it is a HOF

Yeah I got the same card as you afaik, GTX 970 HoF Edition.

Still not exactly requiring a R7k card to play the game. I would expect to pay 7k if you want to play a game now days on "ultra".

I would expect the same ! But a 980ti costs quite a bit much more than 7K these days! =D

Weird that Nvidia are now the GPU of choice for Tomb Raider... With the previous one AMD ruled the roost with TressFX and all that jazz. :)

marketing ploy to sell more 970's

No doubt. They're saying this game is more taxing than The Witcher 3. I ran it at 1080p with high, mediums and lows and got between 40 to 50+, tanking when CPU was taking a hit.
