A GTX 970 is the bare minimum needed to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, says NVIDIA

Based on the article it seems Nvidia is saying the minimum to play it on high settings at 1080p with 60FPS is a GTX970 - the title of the article is misleading in saying that it is the bare minimum.

Right, while I'll only be playing it full on on Friday (the lady will "play" / watch with me this weekend), I played through the intro bit.

My machine is as follows (relevant info only)
i7 3770k
16gb G.Skill Sniper RAM
Galax 970 EXOC
Win 10 Pro 64-bit

Set it to double buffered vsync and 1080p. Did NOT do exclusive fullscreen mode.
Set it to ULTRA, and didnt set anything else, so its ultra, not custom.

During the intro (and first few seconds of desert bit) it was pretty darn beautiful I have to say... really like the snow effect, a nice improvement over the physx snow from Arkham Origins.

It also never went under 50fps (according to steam ingame counter, not updated real time but quick enough to gauge) ever. And was a total smooth experience.


I are happy, and also sad that I am gentleman enough to wait to play this, coz damn i wanna play it more now!

Yeah it's super pretty, one of the best looking games I've ever played, also worth mentioning the port is fantastic!!

yet you will still get a chop somewhere thats going to say that the xbox 360 version held the xbone 1 and pc versions back

They'd be an idiot if they said that.
The only thing wrong with the game is the fact that the Xone had the game as a timed exclusive, I can't help but feel they would have sold more copies if they released it on all available platforms.

I also think [MENTION=21]The Joker[/MENTION] would be one of those people.... if that were the case. It's clearly been optimized for PC and they've done a splendid job on the port.
