Activision clocks 18 million Black Ops map packs sold

R230...Mate your maths is way off...Its roughly R105 for a map pack. Anyway I hate DLC so i'm not gonna bother saying anything other than...Activision you're a bunch of rip off asses.

Fair enough... I apologise for posting on hearsay, should've checked. The point of my post was that they're making SH*TLOADS from it - which I think we all agree!

Regardless, for Xbox, R135 for 1200 points to pay for a map pack....ag nee!

I refuse to pay that (so I've been hanging on to the core maps), especially after I've already paid R699 for the game or whatever I paid. Something ridiculous like that. And they release multiple map packs....so the game ends up costing over a grand.

They've just released another map pack and its like 2 months before the release of MW3. Crazy.
 
Think of it this way... The DLC costs +- R100 and there has been DLC approximately every 3 months since Black Ops was released. So that works out at +- R30 per month (or R1 per day).

They say Black Ops is free to play but, if you want to play on the majority of the servers you have to pay.

I may be mistaken here but I think the servers are automatically updated with the latest DLC which in turn makes the players buy the DLC.

Sort of looks like a subscription service to me...

You are most def mistaken Zarthon. There are plenty of servers running on Black ops that don't require you to have the DLC.
As most people feel the way I do, Map packs are just a way for them to milk their supporters dry. I bought a couple dlc map packs for mw2 but then decided FCK YOU Activision, I pay enough for the game as it is, why pay more for stuff you could include for free or could have included in the retail pack.
