All Things Forza

On my side I can pick a rival and his ghost car won't appear. However I can now see whose ghosts will appear and whose not by seeing if I have the option of viewing a replay of the rival. If the replay option is available then I will see a ghost, otherwise not. Of my friends who have raced this track, only DieGrootHammer has a ghost and a replay available for some reason.

And holy cow DieGrootHammer! Great racing! I don't know how I will get close to your lap time. I think I will continue with the career for now until I get a bit better. It's been a frustrating evening. :)

I know there is an option in one of the many menus to turn on ghost cars. Go check there as well.

And thanks. Driving that car in the rain in dash-cam is stupid amounts of fun. Is exhilarating. The Formula E has great traction and grip, but lacks some speed in the straights. I see the ghost come flying past me in each straight, only to be overtaken on the corners.

Oh and I've shaven off another second off my time already. Coming very close to my possible best in that car.

What a great challenge. Love driving Silverstone in the rain. It's certainly not easy though, but so much fun.

Here is my first attempt:

On the ghost car. The very first time you set a lap, you get placed against the slowest ghost car. Unfortunately it's a bit of a bug, but each Rival race you are only competing against one rival, hence why only one ghost car loads. When you quit the race and restart, the new ghost car will load.

Damn, Formula E cars, yuck. They sure got hell of a grip (super handling stat) , but i can't even hear an engine, feels like i'm driving a go-kart. I improved my time with a Formula E car also , but i'm switching to something else again to see if i can beat it with a car with a real engine ;)

And yes, as for the ghost, confirmed, just exit the race and restart it to see the next ghost. I could only see DieGrootHammer faaaaare in the distance, 2:25 is like 10 seconds faster than me ..eeck.

I read up a bit about the ghosts appearing only for some people and I'm glad to say that I'm not the only one that it happens to. diabolus, as mentioned in my previous post, the ghost problem you are talking about is not the one that I'm having.

It looks like it may be my internet connection that may be causing it. Which is not surprising since I am using a WISP and I have packet loss problems some evenings.

Whew, last night was frustrating! I had a terrible headache and really struggled with that track. I can really see myself needing a better car though. That first car that I tried couldn't stay on the road and the second one I tried, though better, can't do the turning that DieGrootHammer's car did. However I took some aspirin and did career mode and started finding my groove again.

For now I will continue with career mode to get some credits to buy cars for future challenges. :)

Hope you get the issue sorted Solitude, as the ghost cars really help pushing you to drive more aggressively. It helps to better times on the tracks.

So after some testing with a few cars, I found that I liked the Formula E the most on the track in the wet due to it's incredible handling. I had to buy it in game though as I didn't have it in my garage yet. Alas, just after my last attempt, I leveled up and got a prize spin, which landed on me winning a bloody Formula E car. So now I have to of the things...I'll just put it on OLX and sell it ;)

Looks like i got my car to try and beat your time with, Dodge Viper '08 . I tried a few other cars, but looks like there is something up with the Viper on this track ;)

Hehehe I too have found an ace up my sleave... Posted a blistering time, but alas, it wasn't a clean one. The week is still long, and the rivalry strong.... I love it!!!

Ooo I must go look and see what your times are now. At the end of the year all the African leaderboards will be topped by MyGaming people by the looks of things.

That's the idea yes. Would to have our little clan as the top drivers. I actually wish they had clans or driver clubs similar to Forza Horizon 2 so that we all can have a nice barney in our clan.

Myself and DieGrootHammer's times were in the 2:23 bracket last night , he is still ahead of me , but i know i can beat that time if i can only get a clean lap ;) . I think that places Groot 3rd in Africa or so, there's one guy that posted a 2:18 or something crazy who will be quite difficult to beat, looks like the top 100 in the world is in the 2:15 range...most are done with Dodge Vipers (hint hint) .

It is definitely worth checking out the top leaderboards, you can even click on a person and download their car-setup/tune (i believe this is what the last column "FILE" means, that you can download both their car design + setup ; or only one of them)

The viper got the handling of the Formula E cars and much better speeds on the straights. I'm just sucking terribly at that flowing chicane near the end , followed by the tight corner at the end . If i enter that chicane wrong i completely lose my momentum for the rest of the lap , there's this puddle just as you enter that chicane , and the optimal route is going straight through it ...just nasty bit there.

The differences in car handling is SO noticeable on this track though. The rally cars can handle the water like magic, but doesn't seem as good if you actually avoid the water . I also tried with the Mclaren F1 (not sure how i got it, it is super expensive, probably won it on a spin) and boy could i feel the difference, that car is so fast, but i was drifting around all the corners ...sliding all over the place.

How many credits is a Dodge Viper? Hmmm nah, let me rather concentrate on leveling up and getting cars and credits and well experience before I try and the take on the likes of you guys. :)

Yeah I'll struggle to get sub 2:20 I think. Also, I found out what was my problem in Free Play. I was driving with mods on, which automatically disqualifies your time. To get clean laps in Free Play, all you need to do is to ensure you have no mods selected, and obviously no go off the track. So Solitude, if you don't have enough credits for a particular car, you can always try Free Play. Drawback is that you won't be able to tune or upgrade the car though, so there's that.

I think in free play if I rent a car then I don't get XP or that car make xp thingies whatever that is called again. :) So nah, I think I'll wait for now.

Yes there's that too. At the moment I'm trying different cars in Free play to see which ones are nice to drive, before I go out and just buy any old car.

It's cheap, 110k if i recall correctly. I remember because i had no money for anything else, the other cars i was looking at was all 300k+ .

Yep, and another tip "go off track" = "all 4 wheels" . You can still cut a corner with 2 wheels off-track , as long as the other 2-wheels are on the track it will be clean. ;)

And i think it is probably quite advantageous to be able to install a tune into your car. Some of the cars in the store is like rated S-Class with a score of 700 . S-Class score goes up to 800 , that's a hell of alot of tuning that you can still do.

Besides, you can probably buy a cheap D-class car and tune it up to S-class . Just difficult to know in advance whether it is worth it.

Hmmm I can actually afford that. Hmmmm what to do what to do. Maybe I will try this Saturday.

And DieGrootHammer, that's actually a good idea to try out the cars first. In career mode I've just picked the cars of the makes that I like and some have been really bad choices. So maybe I should try out some cars in free play before buying a car.

Cool! I didn't know that. I'm sure that in Forza 5 you went off track if you just touched the grass.

That's a very valid point, but on slippery tracks like this one, sometimes going off or even onto the curb can cause a loss of traction. It's incredible that they actually made the curbs a bit more slippery in the wet. On a dry track there are a few corners to cut to decrease time, but in the wet a dare not go near them.

In previous Forza titles I spent more time in free play as I was more interesting in driving the different cars. With Forza 6, I find myself more drawn into the different race types on offer, so I use Free Play as a proving ground for cars before buying it.

Also, as a tip I can give: if you buy a car that not 100% up to the class level, go and put better grip tyres on it. It shaves a lot off of your overall time. That's always the first upgrade I do.

True, you probably should not get into the habit of cutting corners or riding with 2 wheels on the curb, as i think it is not an exact science as to when it gets flagged as dirty. Some corners it's not always clear how far you can push it and then you end up with a dirty flag.

I do however know, i've been hitting a few curbs with 2 wheels going over the line, without getting flagged, but i also have been flagged out of nowhere. I seem to get most of my dirty flags if i go off track in the last 100-200m of the finish/start line. So if i slide off the track at the END of the lap, my NEXT lap is automatically flagged dirty (it does seem i can rewind to before the incident and get the next lap flagged clean)

Incidentally, DieGrootHammer , your current best lap, i think it's the 4th corner (the first long straight) i can see you went 2 wheels onto the curb and it actually pulled your car off-track making you do a wild inwards pull to get back on the track (you can probably shave .5s off your time if you get that right, because i fly right past you there) . Pretty cool how you can immediately feel you have 2 wheels on a different surface...
