All Things Forza

Foooking hell. When it comes to my turn I'm going to pick class D cars on some short circle track just to get back at you guys. With assists as you please and everything all sunny and nice.

This isn't suppose to make it so that I win. Yes, I love this track and the cars. I picked the track because it's challenging. I also picked some decent enough all wheel drive cars. I tested all of them out stock standard befor posting the challenge and they all perform very well. Managed to get some practice times on each from a standing start. All performed close enough together so it can really come down to choice or driver capabilities, around the 9:15 mark.

I specifically posted this challenge more to get those who play with assists out of their comfort zone. The cars are a nice starting point for this and aren't too slow to make it too easy. Mitsubishi have some fantastic AWD differentials and their yaw management is amazing!

Prepare to see a record time from me this week...
as the slowest and most damaged car to maybe finish. Also I highly doubt I'll manage a clean lap.
That track is a nightmare. I did the night challenge on it the other day and was literally sitting on the edge of my seat with white knuckles all the way.
Good luck guys

Fair enough. :) It's time that I learn to race without those assists. It's going to be tough though!

You can do it! Good luck to you too.

What class is this challenge in? Or am i missing it? Are these cars all a specific class? Since tuning is allowed can i tune it up to S/X class or what?

All cars are in the same class. Upgrades not allowed but tuning can be done, as it's limited. (like tyre pressure).

Ok, for the record : it's Class C . It is important to specify this, since i only had 1 Lancer and i upgraded it to Class A (this is what it remains in your garage until you specifically remove the tune). You need to know the class to use Rivals otherwise your car don't show up as an option for the track.

Ok, the challenge will be as follows:

Cars are to be stock standard. No additions or modifications, though tuning is allowed where available.
No assists allowed. Clean lap preferred.
ABS off
TCS off
STM off
Racing Line (I would prefer this off but I have no way of seeing if this is on/off)
Manual or Automatic gearing
Damage & Tyre wear - at your discretion
Rewind off for obvious reasons.

Vehicle options are as follows:
2008 Lancer Evolution X GSR
2006 Lancer Evolution IX MR
2004 Lancer Evolution VIII MR
1999 Lancer Evolution VI GSR

Track is the following:
Germany, Nordschleife, Sunny

Tough challenge indeed.

I may just lose a controller if I go a bit off track on those fast corners after the long straight. Time will tell.

Yes, class C. It's Base class. I had to remove my tunes to return it back to 490 (stock). No additions allowed. Must remain as purchased.

Updates the OP with exact class rating as per the stock standard.

Argh, guess i'm not going to even try for clean lap on this, no way in hell with the restrictions + narrow track + 9 minute lap ...

Lol.... Learn to feather the brake. Gentle!

I'll admit it's a tough course to get a clean lap. But it's challenging. At least you've taken up the challenge and attempting it, for that I thank you!

Gentle? I can see this is going to be like that one time I tried to play snooker.

My braking skills do need work though so even if I put in a bad time it will probably help me up my skills a bit. Win-win really. A 9:20 shall be my base target.

None wrong with that bud. A good time to set for yourself. And that's the right attitude and what I'm aiming at doing. Just trying to help and make valuable challenges is all.

So, after initial sighting laps, here are how things stand:

Challenge week 3.jpg

Thankfully I managed to get a clean lap in. Definitely can do better though. My word, how I miss having ABS though.

Also, guys, remember, rather not download and install tuning setups. It installs parts making your car not factory default, raising the car's rating. We can see who is not using stock standard cars.

8:45 is monster of a lap! Wow.

This going to be an addictive challenge with such good times being posted.

Fuuuuuuuuuu.....

Every lap I'm getting better and better and the last one I was keeping up with DieGrootHammer all the way but then mistimed the freaken second last corner. So I quit for now.
DieGrootHammer you are a machine! But I saw now that your time is definitely reachable. It just requires a lot of patience and concentration.

Will try again tomorrow evening. Someone must definitely change that signature of yours though!

Pro tip
Turn off the ghost.

It distracts you and forces you to play to their needs. You start stressing unnecessarily and therefore end up making mistakes.

If you want to, watch their replay.

It's great to see people taking up the challenge. And awesome to see you guys beating your own times. I been watching the leaderboard...

I smashed my target of 9:20 with a dirty 8:59. I think with more practice, I can match this with a clean time.

I'm noticing a preference towards automatic shifting over manual. Is there any particular reason for this? Personally I feel that manual is faster thanks to the extra engine braking. I tend to miss-shift a fair bit which erodes the advantage for me.
