Industry guy predicts death of single-player gaming by 2014
That’s assuming there’s no death of the world in 2012, anyway

Fact is more than 50% of gamers do not play multiplayer, whether its because they do not have internet or just pref single player games. This idjit needs to realise that not everything will work on multiplayer format.

Gaming is escapism, sometimes you want to do that with other people sometimes you don't. Quite often you just want to get away from all the bullshit of human interaction and just transport yourself to another land. I don't see that changing. Just because certain technologies make it easier to network doesn't mean you always want to.
We just have to look at the big single player games this year versus the multiplayer ones to see that single player is still as healthy as ever and is unlikely to go anywhere.
Batman: Arkham City, Biohsock Infinite, Rage, Skyrim, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Uncharted 3, Warhammer: Space Marine.
*I know some have multiplayer but I would argue most people buy them for the single player.
Personally I HATE social network integration in my games, I don't need or what that rubbish permeating my gaming experience. Thankfully this idea died down somewhat after it wasn't too successful in the few games that tried it.
I find that a bit hard to believe, I find single player and multiplayer two different things. I dont play single player because multiplayer is unavailable, its a challenge.
