Another BT Games complaint thread...

Unfortunately BT provides the most pre-order titles, zaps does little in comparison and mygamingshop has yet to up the game. As I've said before; we need a good solid pre-ordering system, but got lole'd at. Seriously wtf do I now know.

Exactly, BT also provides the most pre-order incentives and grabs up most of the exclusive offers from publishers. It's nice to see that other companies like Zaps and Take2 are also getting in on those.

In the past I have pre-ordered STALKER:COP and Portal 2 (XBOX360) from BT Games with no problems at all. Very good service, updating me with sms's and emails.

Yeah, their service is excellent, I recall getting an SMS notification for an order I cancelled as well as an order I collected a week prior :)

Actually, now that I think of it, I recall having to fight to get my pre-order codes for Dragon Age 2: SE as well. "We'll e-mail them to you in 20 minutes" ended up being the following morning at 10:00.

I'm probably just nitpicking now though :)

As I said Ly, I understand your frustration. In my experience with BT, any potential problem was quickly sorted out with a phone call. If that's not the way you want to sort this out then so be it.

Either way I hope you get your game.

Thanks, Fivel :)

The thing is, the dude who I speak to (read: e-mail) is the one in charge of orders, the web site and the database. Who else is going to be able to assist me without forwarding my problem to him? Ergo, I'm cutting out the middleman one way or the other,

last time i bought something from bt was the mass effect 2 ce.

the R80 shipping when it was supposed to be free was the last straw

Oh, yeah, don't even get me started on billing.

Pre-ordered Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition, right, paid for it, right. A few weeks before release the price drops (something like R29) so I don't hear a peep from them about my 29-bucks, so I guess I just collect it from the store when I fetch it. The day comes where I fetch DA2 and I enquire about my R29 and get told that they can't refund me, only headquarters can since I bought online. So, get home and e-mail them and get told that sure they can refund me, or they could just deduct it from the next purchase.

I've made a number of purchases since then, not one of them has been -R29.

Like I said, I don't trust the way these people do business.

Oh dear lord... It just gets better and better....

I recently found out, thanks to Wlad that there's a collector's edition (not the augmented edition) of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. So, naturally, decided to pop off an e-mail to BT Games to cancel my pre-order and request a refund, as you do.

The message you sent to btgames.co.za/webmaster was rejected because it would exceed the quota for the mailbox.

The subject of the message follows:
Subject: Cancellation and refund: 10535***

Is this a joke?

At least now I know why my payment confirmations never came through today...

Edit: It's Friday the 13th... I'm screwed...

These poor okes - They get more complaints than compliments. I have pre-order LA Noire and Infamous 2 - I hope they don't stuff it up. I've chosen the pickup and pay option which is never reassuring.

I think BT Games got good people behind the counters/ behind the emails to go as far as they can go within their limits. The problem with BT Games are their IT/Software/Website/Databases/Systems. If you only deal with them on a retail "physically-in-store" level , things are fine, but the moment you do things online via some sort of system, that's where things fail them.

I've used various products from BT Games over the years, the club, the pre-ordering, the online shopping the rentals and everytime i've had an issue it basically came down to a muckup in their -systems- . They are still using the same rental website that DO NOT WORK for years now, i simply can't fathom why they haven't thrown it out yet. If you want to book a rental you are better off phoning or emailing a specific person rather than using the system that are suppose to handle it.

Even their whole online vs in-store price policy , that often causes alot of grief comes down to systems. You see the game online for R299, you place your order to pick up in store and don't receive confirmation emails or anything , so you go to the store and while the entire shelf is filled with the game at R310 , you'll just get a blank stare about "sorry, your order is not on our system, so you can't get it for R299" . That's when i walk to the LooknListen across the store and buy it for R310 there on principle.

Now this is what I call good customer service and communication from a retailer - I may not like the message but at least I'm told well in advance....

Message from ZapsOnline

You have received a new message regarding order #:

Hi

Unfortunately we have some bad news with regards comic books.

At the moment the books are delayed. The publishes are not able to issue Megarom with the quantity that the originally ordered.

it looks like they might be able to get some books but this is not 100% confirmed.

Due to this they are also working on compensation in case the books don't arrive.

We are still waiting on a confirmed answer as to what the compensation will be.

As soon as i have more information or more concrete information i will let you know.

We do apologize for the inconveniences caused.

Regards Bonita

Comic books? Which ones?

And I do agree, cruddy message but at least it keeps you informed and up to date about your purchase (i.e. excellent service as opposed to the bare minimum).

I attempted e-mailing BT at the [email protected] address this morning, it bounced again so I e-mailed BT's orders address as well as Steven Moore (the complaints dude). Considered it my second-last move before e-mailing my local shop and then phoning in (phoning really is just a last resort to me before making my grievances known in person).

Asked for my confirmations of payment to be sent to me and that Deus Ex: HR Augmented Edition, Dungeon Siege 3: LE, Fable 3 be cancelled and refunded to me along with the R26 I'm still owed (thought that if I'm going to be a pain in the ass, I might as well get what I'm owed).

On the plus side, they forwarded me my confirmations of payment (from some new--i.e. not the usual--address) but absolutely nothing else, no response to my e-mail, my request or otherwise.

Honestly, I'd like to know how anyone considers their service to be "good." I'm really just under the impression that their service, what there was, at least, has worsened considerably :/

Basically, I've just decided that I'm taking my business elsewhere in future unless BT has some irresistible pre-order incentive or product other companies can't match.

Dont know, something to do with the Witcher 2

Yep, my point exactly - tries to manage expectations.

I must say you are persistent :)

Lol, I think you are really testing them here.
