Quick one about the justice system, i know about the whole trial thing, 3k points you a pirate etc. But when you are put on trial, is the time you can spend in jail based off your CP or another different thing?

It's based on your crime points. The larger your crime points the longer your sentence _can_ be. It is up to the judge and jury to decide how long it will be so it can be anywhere below the max time for your crime points.

Eish, that trade run quest to get the 16x16 farm is insane! You are supposed to travel with a trade pack across the sea to the other (enemy faction) continent.

So i got my rowboat and decided i'm just going to row across and check things out first before doing so with my trade pack (if you die with your trade pack it drops right there and anyone can take it). Firstly, there's lvl 50 mobs in the ocean that is VERY aggro, the jellyfish one-shotted me and i wasn't even properly in the ocean , then there are these bugs that jump into your boat and they just don't go. After about 3 deaths due to this, i managed to zig-zag myself between islands and got across, but much lower on the continent than where i should be handing in.

I rowed my boat along the coast and i didn't even come close to the specific harbor and was promptly attacked and killed by like 7 ships . It is quite clear the players are camping the harbor killing all the suckers that do this mission. Luckily (or unluckily) i rez on the enemy continent at this point, so i ran into elf land and got me that Elk mount (after being attacked numerous times by players all over the place) . I don't have stealth yet, so it was a bit nerf wrecking....if you're into exploration, make sure to pick Shadowplay as your skillset.

Anyway, so i teleported back, and started looking for a group that is doing a trade run on a proper ship. Eventually found one with a nice clipper, the guy is asking 5g per person and we were like 4 players on his boat. I figured i would get at least 6-8g for the trade pack hand in, so 5g to finish the quest and get the farm is not bad.

Sooooo, heh, off we go, we're not even halfway and a grief guild of OUR freaking faction attacks our ship and manage to kill 2 of the guys with tradepacks , but we managed to get away from them. Next up, 3 bugs jumps on the ship and pulls the 3rd guy from the ship and dead he is too. So there it's just me left with the ship owner and as we enter the other continents water we sail straight into 2 enemy clippers , luckily they were idling and had to slowly turn around . We managed to race into the harbor with like 3 ships on our tail, and all i needed was to get within range of the quest giver to finish the quest (you do NOT need to hand it in for the quest completion) . I tried to hand my trade pack in, and was insta ganked by like 4 players on the harbor.

So yea, some serious adventuring on the high seas there, i love it..i wouldn't do it again until i am at least lvl 40 or with a proper fleet that can take on the enemies on the ocean, but i can see alot of excitement and action in doing this particular activity.

It's also already very profitable just owning a faster ship and taking players across .

The safer way is probably sailing to an entirely different port and walking along the beach (and hope no one notices you) .

There's also a few islands in the middle of ocean, saw people already started building housing on there (so you can build there too). Definitely useful if you plan to be a pirate.

Last night my brother and I setup a farming operation. We are starting with 2 scarecrows and we both have family access to them so at least one of US can manage the plants/life stock while the other is not around. Later on we will upgrade to farms and get a clipper sorted. Hopefully we will see some proper ROI by the end of the month. Stupid game is too addictive.

Yea, it's crazy addictive once you get going. I now got the 8x8 farm and the small cottage (you can plant stuff around the house when it's done too, actually a ton of space ) and then the 16x16 farm, but i need lumber to complete it. I just set it up as incomplete, to claim the property, might move it later if i find better property, the places are filling up fast where i'm currently at (Mahadevi , right next to the City Towers, good access to all the merchants and the inner continent, not too far from the sea)

I see clipper designs is about 40g on the AH (if you don't want to buy it with gilder stars) and not too bad to build (lumber, stone and fabric) , so i'm working towards that too, there's a ton of things to explore on the sea , but i need to get some levels for that.

@diabolus - Wouldn't it just be easier to get the Farm house from Mirage isle for 50 gilda?

Yea, if you got 50 gilda, but that is the farm house though, not the 16x16 scarecrow farm. Thing is gilda is quite difficult to get, and the main source of it is the story quest line. The story quest line ends at lvl 30 and then your only source of gilda stars will be dailies and considering that 50 gilda is almost "entry level" pricing (there are items that's like 1000+ gilda) , i'd rather get all my designs with gold and save my gilda for the serious stuff.

The farmhouse design you can buy on the AH for gold too, i'd rather do that to be honest.

Besides, i think it's actually still easier to do the trade-run for the 16x16 farm, the crafting of the tradepack is pretty easy (bananas and vegetables) , you just need to get someone with a fast ship (that knows what he is doing, my skipper was not quite the expert in navigating his ship) to race you across quickly, even if its a suicide run...i suppose if you do this at 5am in the morning you can get in without any enemies.

Don't you get gilda from trade runs as well? I need to do some more research before i start spending me coin. I've been keeping an eye on our AH but there's never any designs available.

Yes you do, but i believe it needs to be across continents? I don't think you get gilda for trade-runs on your own continent (not sure,i've done a few local ones and my gilda is not rising as much as i hoped) . I already saw players moaning about the harbors being camped for exactly these types of trade-runs , apparently it's easier to go craft your trade pack on the enemy continent and sail to your own port for hand-in .

At the very least, there's an amazing amount of reasons for players to PvP with a reason in this game heh. There's a ton of profit in sinking a ship loaded with like 5-10 players with trade packs....

Yea all the PvP people that rushed to 50 is now eagerly twiddling their thumbs for that continent to open up.

This is the "tips" they give on doing a trade-run to either Freedich island or the enemy continent, quite serious business and shows you how dangerous it is hehe:

http://forums.archeagegame.com/showthread.php?29027-Tips-for-going-to-freedich-island.
Safest way: get 20 friends and then another 20 allies to run there. Have a scout with stealth on the island. Have 3 ships, one lead, one right behind, and one 5 minutes behind that as a tail. All land at the same time and push towards the trader.

We tend to do trade runs early weekend mornings. So during the week we build up our ingredients and then do a few runs the saturday and sunday mornings. Also if you are doing trade runs be sure to have stealth. Stay stealthed even when handing your goods in. I actually have one alt that I only use for trade runs since my main character does not have stealth.

Yep, almost got my stealth, and i now know exactly where to land my ship to stealth-walk my trade-pack into the soliz port. The harbor was suppose to have a safe area around the traders, but doesn't looks like that is really working . The idea is to push players to PvP deeper in the sea as opposed to in the harbor. So, amusingly, if you are willing to land somewhere along the coast away from the harbor, and walk it in , it is most likely all clear because of this. I rarely spotted ships in the deep ocean, only near the harbors.

And here's what my 'hood is looking like, i got a nice cozy spot on the far end right next to all the workstations (house with blue roof). This is what is nice about this particular server, as you can see most houses are still being built. This spot looks totally different on the original servers.

Eish, i'm gonna hit my LP cap today. I really need to start burning some LP. I was thinking of farming some stone and turning it into hereafter stones to drop on the AH.

Craft Tax Certificates? It's 200 LP a shot and very fast to craft.

Also, do a mining run in one of the quarries, i burn through 2k LP in like 30 minutes easily, especially if your mining proficiency is high and you hit the "fortuna" nodes often . A Fortuna node = 20 LP a shot to mine and you need them to get silver/gold/gems etc.

Cool thanks will try that. Do tax certs sell well though?

I'm not sure , not even sure you can sell them, but if you are owning any kind of property you need to pay tax every week with tax certificates , i'm considering putting up more houses just to grab property and the means i need to pay more and more taxes. So i'm actually making a point to spend 200pts to craft 5 certificates every day.

In terms of money, it is probably more useful to do the mining runs, Raw Stone is a huge requirement to build right about anything in the game , and incidentally it's a "random drop" on Iron nodes. Once you got a good farming operating going with livestock, your LP will also drain like no tomorrow . To craf the food for the livestock and then clipping/harvesting them and re-feeding them can require alot of LP.

Just to craft my -tiny- house, i needed 600 Raw Stone + 300 Logs . To convert 600 Raw Stone into 200 Bricks = 1000 LP right there , getting the 600 Raw stones is alot more LP .

Last i checked 300 Raw Stone is about 35gold on the AH, 100 Stone Bricks (this is merely converted Raw Stone) is 40-45gold . So you score 5-10g just for having the LP to convert the Raw Stone....i already saw players selling services to convert the Raw Stones / Raw Items to Processed items at a price....

...so if i didn't know what to do with my LP, i would get 100 Stone Bricks and offer to trade it for 300 Raw Stone for say 10g and convert that 300 Raw Stone into 100 Stone Bricks and repeat (you can do this directly on the AH, buy the Raw Stone, sell the Bricks) ....money rolling in....

That's actually faster than doing trade-runs, until you run out of LP that is...i think i'll definitely look into that myself if i sit with 5k LP.

Very interesting Podcast with Trion and the future and what is coming as well as how much power Trion have and how much XLGames control all of this .

Also the northern continent (Auroria) and when they are opening that. For those that don't know, there is the east/west continents and then a northern continent which is on the map but it's locked down at this point. Alot of lvl 50s are all waiting for this to open up, more land, more gear, more stuff.

Okay, so you guys chatting about this game have gotten me interested - is it worth starting this game? It's got fairly bad reviews on Metacritic from gamers (not critics), so I'm apprehensive but you guys seem to enjoy it.
