ARK: survival evolved

Oh ok, that makes sense. From the vids and screenshots I've seen the game certainly looks good so if they can get it well optimised I'd definitely consider it.

Well I played it for a whole 8min and then asked for a refund.
The game has a lot of potential but its def not worth the asking price in its current form, that's for sure.

almost any early access game is not worth the asking price. but at least here they being out at least one update every 2 days

Yeah and then yesterday Nvidia dropped another bombshell on this game, it'll be a gameworks title, so yeah good luck for the guys running amd cards. Nvidia game works is a fucking plague that needs to be destroyed.

Lol. Yet I don't see AMD pushing the tech at all.

What tech? The tech that is broken in every single game?
Game works titles never work from the get go, there are always issues.
Keepa34 Just bought the game again after the refund came in. I'm gonna follow the development closely.
Like I said the game looks awesome and has amazing potential.

anyone other than me playing this? im absolutely loving it.. i would appreciate a optimisation fix though.. I'm only running this game at 30-40 FPS with medium settings, high takes me to 20 FPS..

Make sure to turn down resolution scale, that'll fuck up any pc.
Running the game maxed out @ 4K no issues.

if you weren't running this at max then i would truly be worried for this game..

The biggest issue with the game being in pre alpha, there is little to no optimization, get random frame drops for no reason, I've had 3 crashes out of the blue and it really annoys me when shit like that happens. At this moment in time they are working on the game and that's great but from what I've seen they are more content focused than optimizing the game, which is fine but a lot of people can only take so many crashes and issues before they eventually give up, myself included.

That said the game is gorgeous, there is a ton of stuff to do although a lot of it isn't explained to you...more like a figure it out or die thing lol.
We'll see what the future brings though, I won't be surprised if a major dev buys the game from the current developers.

I'm confused by this statement. Every thing AMD does techwise is open-source. NVidia, on the other hand, are the ones that do this exact sort of thing which cripples the competition performance on their "proprietary" technology...so if anyones not doing right by the consumer, its NVidia :P

Really, really amazing game with so much potential.

The one main problem with this game is it is a Survival Game and until they add proper admin tools, mods etc and some decent people can run private, possibly whitelisted servers the "nice" experience will be short lived.

Unlike some other games in the past you put in a lot of time leveling, taming and base building. So you dedicate yourself to a server. a Big % of servers in general, specially local servers are know for their Admin abuse and even hacking.

I see a lot of people on the Mweb servers, but they are notorious for Admin abuse. Not sure how many of you played Dayz mod at an early stage. That was hacker central. Even the admin got banned by Battleye more than once.
Then you move on to games like 7 Days to Die and you have it confirmed there again. Arma 3 and so on.

The core of the problem here being that these ISP's don't have staff that do the Admin duties. They usually have young people, in some cases even kids (go on the TS and listen to some of them speak) end up being Admin's on the servers. Someone who plays there and then applies or a friend of one of the admins, playing that game and then easily also becoming an admin.
In 99.9% of cases you can't really prove these sort of things and they know that.

No wonder so many of the established groups tend to still ignore what a local ping offers and go play these sort of games on private International servers.

Any good Game Master or decent Admin will tell you that you just don't play on the server you Admin.
Sure you have some good guys out there that pay for a server, play on it and Admin it correctly. It does happen (and we've seen it) but they are far and few between.

That is just the sad reality, but I hope and wish this game all the best. As an early access title it is truly amazing seeing we are 1 year away from the official release. The activity from the Dev team is outstanding.

I must say I am completely addicted to this game. It really is amazing, a bit tough to play solo but get together a tribe and its really awesome.

Im playing on a US server with our clan, the lag isnt to bad (there are about 6 or 7 SA servers), We have a fairly big group, had a huge base on an official server with 2 Trex's an anklyo, a trike, a few birds, a megaladon, and a bunch of raptors. Everything got wiped out though in one big raid which was a bit dishearting, but we changed servers and started again and things are going well again.

You need a decent PC to run it, the gameplay is fairly similar to rust however I think they went in a better direction with the crafting system here, and having dangerous Dino's around gives a whole other threat other than just players.

The devs' are incredibly active and there's usually daily updates with fixes and new content etc. It definitely is an Early access game, a lot of bugs, but it is still amazing.

Would love to play the game but when I heard that when you log out you are actually still in game, asleep and that everything you have worked on can be gone when you wake up being killed and robbed in the "night", I realised immediately that this is not for me.

That would just make me super pissed.

So I'm looking at the special at the moment, and wondering if i should take the plunge. Does it "force" you to spend alot of time in it? Like, if I dont play for like a week is it basically start from scratch behind everyone else? Is the MyGaming community folk on ARK friendly and cooperative? :)

You have to invest time, there is a leveling element so you earn XP for doing certain things. every 5 levels opens up more things that you can craft. you can still have your friends/tribe craft things for you but if you lose them you can't make them yourself :)

I play on the BMW PVE server and I'm satisfied with the couple of hours I can put in a week.

Where you really feel the pinch is with trying to tame dinos. That seems to require a lot of free time.

i depends what you are trying to tame. if you have a raptor and maybe a friend, go farm raw prime meat from bronto, trex and megladons.. it cuts the taming time to like a quater of the time, if not less. just remember that it only lasts 10 mins in your dino and 2 mins on your person. also, starve them for as long as possible before you start feeding them

When is this game expected to be released and how often are they fixing issues?

Official release I'm not sure, but i have never seen dev's this active, literally pretty much a patch a day, some people even complain that they fix stuff too often. They are really awesome, the game is getting better optimized constantly.
