Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag announce trailer leaked

When is Ubisoft going to learn that the white hooded cloak is impractical and silly outside of the Crusader era?

Dude that's a trademark sign off an Assassin, its like fitting a RPG in your pocket in GTA and the pathetic re loading logic in FPS's. Its part of the game and the series

Precisely my point. There shouldn't be a trademark sign of an assassin. You might as well have a neon sign above your head saying "assassin here." It made sense in the first and second game, because people wore hooded cloaks in those eras.

In the new setting it makes no sense at all. Being an assassin involves a lot of blending in in plain sight to finish objectives. Wearing an uncommon outfit that doesn't suit your profession and which is not common to the era you live in is not a particularly good way to remain undetected.

And I'm sure the huge bow and duel swords hanging from your belt aren't also a giveaway. The hood is there to hide the assassin from society and protect his real image. Notice how Connor removes his hood back at the homestead and then uses it again out in public.

Theoretically he should be able to remove his hood and be a normal member of society and the Hood signals I'm on duty. Look at Ezio's father, he wore his hood when he was representing the assassins and when he was a normal citizen it was gone. Even Desmond used his hood when out in public and on duty.

In the first game the assassins always wore their hoods because they were a public group however as Altair wrote in his diary when the templors hid from the public then they too should hide and alter traditions to suit the current times.
I believe the hood will always have its place with the assassins.

And I believe that's why the idea of the hood is flawed. In a crowd of people wearing these

stands out like a sore thumb. It makes no sense, especially seeing as their mortal enemies, the templars, would be able to see right through it straight away.

1 - Go undercover and wait for idiot walking around in hood to walk past
2 - Shoot him in the back
3 - ???
4 - PROFIT!

And I'm sure the huge bow and duel swords hanging from your belt aren't also a giveaway.

Weapons in a society where just about everyone is carrying around weapons? Yeah, I can totally see how that's comparable to wearing a hood in a society where nobody wears hoods.

I'm fairly sure that the average person walking down the street wouldn't have 2 pistols, a short/ battle axe, a tomahawk, rope dart on the hip and a bow over his shoulder. He would have one or 2 but not 5 different weapons in open view.
Not even your town guard would be that well armed.

But in a society where everyone is carrying weapons someone being excessively armed is going to attract less suspicion than someone wearing a hooded cloak, which nobody wears.

I doubt it, I can't imagine you seeing a guy that heavily armed in a civilian area looking normal. I would see the guy with his sword and pistol as normal, but looking like Connor would not be normal. The majority of people on the street would be your normal civilian, going to work and picking up food, your fighters would be soldiers in uniform. A soldier would be armed for war and a civilian would be armed for his defence but a civilian armed for war with an entire army would stand out as much as a guy in a hood.

At least the guy in the hood can drop his weapons and hood off and walk the street but without the hood they will know your face always.

When has real-world logic made an appearance in games?

lol this. Except Arma maybe.

AC devs should learn some things from Hitman...now thats a true stealth assassin game. AC has become more of a hack n slash lately, since thats the only thing that gets the missions done.
