ATI Radeon HD 7770 vs Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 OC

So here's the deal, both got released today. It's still a 128bit architecture, which isn't that nice. I thought we'd be making 256bit our standard memory bandwith and not 128bit. Still, there are some nice surprises to the overclocked Sapphire edition. In some cases it out performs a ATI Radeon HD 6850. Which is pretty decent.

And it leaves the Nvida GT 550TI (?) lagging behind.

Something to keep in mind is that this card has a really nice chip in it, and with better drivers I'm sure you'll get a boost in performance. And there might even be better OC versions coming out soon, XFX anyone?

Thoughts?

As budget cards they are great. You can easily save up for a second card and SLi them.

I had great service from my 2 x 5770 HD Cards.

I've seen some of the crossfire reviews and I have to say the cards perform well in CF, on par with a single GTX580.
I was expecting a bit more though, if the cards come in at around R1200-R1500 I reckon it'll be worth it. If not I would avoid them for a bit and see what the 7870 brings to the table.

Agreed, it just gets me that they are still 128bit. They could have at least gone for 192bit or something. That little bit more bandwidth helps.

Any news on the 7790? I can't find anything...

So slightly faster than a 5770/6770 but still slower than the 6850. I'll keep waiting for the 7850/7870 series.

This, I won't be able to afford the 7870 though but maybe the 7850. 7770 doesn't seem worth upgrading to from a 5770.

I think it depends on the price... What if the card costs R1200 new for a OC version? I would buy 2 then... but hten I'd need a new motherboard. Anybody selling a 775 Crossfire MB? :p
