Batman vs. Superman has found its Lex Luthor

Also, just cause the dude is bald, does not make him Lex Luthor :)

But yeah, too old. He is the same age as Alfred for goodness sake.

Personally, I won't place any judgement on the movie or its casting choices until I see it, Gal Gadot and Jesse Eisenberg could surprise us with brilliant performances, I'm already sure Ben Affleck will do a good enough job, and Scar... I mean Jeremy Irons will be an interesting Alfred.

I will admit though that the development of the movie is what has me worried about the project and its intended bigger picture (establishing the DC Universe).

I've always felt like WB in previous years wasn't initially concerned with establishing the DC Universe, instead they were using the DC source material to make movies with no bigger picture intended outside of the hero or character they were focusing on, whether it was the batman movies (all of them, like, all of them), the superman movies, catwoman, Steel, etc. The list goes on, but overall each movie or movie series felt like it's own thing removed the rest of the DC Universe.

You never really got the sense that there was something beyond Batman, Green Lantern, or Superman's world (and to a smaller degree this also includes Man of Steel because of the direction they took with the movie, but by then we already knew that Justice League was a thing in the pipelines). Now I'm not saying this failed them or anything because they've certainly cashed in on a few of these movies or movie series, and if you look into the Marvel Universe, you could probably find a similar trend until the more recent films. The issue I'm finding with this movie (a worry really, until I see the movie), is that it's a sequel to Man of Steel, and I feel we can still get a lot more from Supes as a character, but it seems like the project is starting to feel like Justice League as opposed to Man of Steel 2. Now I want a JL movie as much the next DC fan, but how will it turn out if they give us a JL movie under the guise of it being a sequel to MoS (seriously, kill this Batman vs. Superman title)?

I'm not saying the project will tank, I actually hope it succeeds, but I do have some concerns about how they intend to make it work as a MoS sequel when we have all these powerful characters who need to be established (maybe not Bats). How will it affect the MoS franchise and the JL project going forward?

P.S. I loved Man of Steel (even if the last 3rd of the movie felt like someone pumped the movie with too much juice... Literally too much action)

They should basically use these movies to keep introducing characters, who will garner off-shoots themselves, then in-turn will create more and more characters. Sounds like a good plan to me. Like have Aquaman make a turn in a Wonder Woman stand-alone movie.

I reckon that they're using these movies as platforms to introduce characters in the same way that Marvel is doing with their movies (Falcon, War Machine, etc.). It is an interesting platform and I am pretty confident that if they do this right, they can make one hell of a movie universe.

Yes, a lot of peeps forget that. Jesse Eisenberg could really pull of a good Luthor, like you guys said, the internet went ape-shit when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, because they'd never really seen him take on a role like that.

marvel introduced about 1 character in each movie, WB seems like they want to introduce the whole JL in this NON JL Movie

You do make an interesting point, I just hope they don't give us too much all at once (I guess that's really my worry). Was the Flash rumor ever confirmed?

So if I understand it correctly, it looks like they're doing the opposite of how Marvel did it?

Where Marvel started with the Characters and their stories, and then introduced The Avengers.

Now with this DC movie, they're introducing everyone (possibly as the Justice League or the beginning of it) and then make their own movies to expand more on their stories.

That's what it seems like. I think they are going to establish the Trinity (Batman, Supes, WW), then secondary-but-still-AAA characters like Flash, Aquaman and Green Lantern, and then go all out with JL, where the rest of the people will have a go.

I've had the same thought, but to play their advocate for a bit, their way could work if they know what the word moderation means. Each of these characters will probably get their own stand-alone movie.

There is still about 2 years to go before this movie out, what are the chances of these small spin-off's happening in that time?

I don't think anything will happen in that small time-frame. These things normally do take some time and I think they'll want to piggyback it with something more established, like MoS2 or characters from that movie. I'm no expert, I just read a lot of comics and listen to a lot of podcasts that talk about crap like this.

I have to agree with you there Nemesis Michael Rosenbaum was Lex Luthor :D but Spacey wasn't that bad either also i think the guy from breaking bad is a tad too old for a Lex. I Guess they'll be shaving this guys head :p

Also so far it's only 2 DC char and 2 villains as far as i know no mentions of green lantern or WW or Shazam yet and if they do a JL movie and introduce flash and arrow i hope they use the current arrow char and i guess we'll all have to see how this new young actor plays Barry Allen in the new Flash spinoff series coming. if he's good i'd say use him in JL
