Battlefield 1 gets a massive price increase on Origin SA

That is insane. I'm sorry but people who pay that much for a game are just enabling them. Boycott these prices! Go on strikes! Burn down universities!

I'll be cancelling my preorder, Yes I paid the old price but none of my mates have the game yet and I know they won't pay those prices. This will also affect the player base immensely. On top of that there is still no word on local servers.

I noticed Titanfall 2 pricing has also shot through the roof, yet EA's other $60 games are still at R599.

Let's not even mention the fact the COD infinite warfare ultimate edition is R1500 on steam and comes with a ton and I mean a ton of content.

i'm hoping it's a mistake, its crazy to show one price and the next day a different price

well there goes that game. As much as I have been enjoying the beta, will go look for something else to play rather.

thats so messed up R1000 for a game thats just standard with nothing extra is abit much. I played the beta its nice but no local servers made the game abit impossible to play.

Even with local servers i dont see many people paying that much for it.

this just makes playing games these days with impossible if same type games poping up every month

The only way to win is to boycott, which kinda sucks. I really like the game first Bf since BF2 that I will not be buying (excluding BF Hardline ofc). I am really bummed out though was hyped since May when I heard it would be World War one orientated.

Not quite sure it's a mistake, as it only seems to affect the pre order games.
Eh it's really very sad though, it seems that pc gaming is becoming as expensive as console gaming and if that's the case I'm done.

This news settles it then. I played the beta, liked it, but still prefer BF4. Something about BF1 just did not sit nicely with me. Now the choice is made for me. Not getting it.

I understand price increase but with the fallout DLC something similar happened but they warned that there would be an increase and locked the price for a week and only then made the increase. Not just overnight with no warning. That is unacceptable and unforgivable IMO.

well that sucks, guess i wont be getting it now.

That is utterly Ridiculous, can't justify dropping R1k on a PC game, there will most likely be a 40% off sale in a few months anyway

Jan also published an article last month about Origin undercutting local suppliers. I wonder what they're up to?

What the fuck has happened to the cost of PC games, it's getting ridiculous.

My guess is now that stores are becoming electronic and some stores are running across platforms, they are trying to keep the prices the same, at the higher console prices.

But in general things aren't out of hand. There was a PC Gamer article that came out today I think saying that games are discounted by 33% after about 60 days and by 75% in less than a year. It's really a few of the AAA producers pushing the price boundaries and trying to perfectly price discriminate between consumers. Unfortunately, that theory doesn't hold in gaming terms (mainly multiplayer ones) as the hype wears out and no one wants to play what is perceived as a dead (or dying) game.
