Battlefield 1943 and Bad Company 2 system specs

Time for a pc upgrade then, my little dual core has almost seen the end of its gaming life, sad it was such a good machine a couple of years ago. They grow up so fast.:)

Well my lappie should still handle those specs comfortably.... especially now that i have managed to push my GPU's fan speed up, thanks to Mappies Help :D

well considering this game has a minimum requirement of Core 2 Duo im sooooooo glad I cant mine about 2 months ago... I think i would have been like left on the side.... only problem i have with the BF series is that it tends to become a little repetitive tbh... but i enjoy flying the helis and jets and stuffs like that :D always a jol

I've got a Core2Duo running at 4.2GHz. I'm not convinced that I need a quadcore CPU yet, I'll wait for the game to prove me wrong and if it does, I'll probably end up getting my i7 :)

Nothing wrong with a Dual Core running at that clock speed. The problem comes in with lots of games being coded with the 360 CPU in mind, which is a triple core. A 4.2ghz dual core is a very capable CPU, but when games are optimized to run on three or more cores, they run inefficiently on a dual core.

An i7 CPU is a great upgrade though =)

Well I'll wait to see but let me enlighten everyone in regards to CPU usage and Requirements.
Certain games have recommend specs for a specific reason, using Quad core as an example, it does not have as much to do with the speed of the actual CPU ( Core2Duo etc) as much as it means that the game relies on the architecture used in those specific CPU's.

From a hosting point of view for instance, HoN has a quad core as a recommended CPU for the server, we tested a Dual Core system that is actually faster than the recommended spec but the game would simply not run correctly.
This was due to timing, on certain CPU's, specifically Dual Cores, the Cores use a specific type of timing to handle calculations etc.Quad cores use a completely different system, this game simply could not function on a Dual Core.

Same goes for specific games on the client side.
AMD uses their own type of Core Timing, Bioshock was the first title to exploit this as it shipped with a Dual core Optimzer for AMD CPU's, allowing the timing to be set via an external application.
Without this applciation, the game would simply not work on the system, no matter how fast the CPU's were.

So let's wait and see, I doubt that this will be the case with the BF series, but its always a possibility.

Will iGame be looking into setting up dedi servers for both these games?

My CPU is my only bottleneck at this point. It's probably time to start looking for that Phenom X4 upgrade.

Seeing as this thread has reared its ugly head :) Whats the latest news on battlefield 1943 for the PC, any release date confirmed?
