Got gears of war 3 today and bought a 12 month online so got something else to keep me busy...Managed to get my BF3 Beta download in Origin going: in your normal web browser go to http://store.origin.com/store/eara/en_ZA/html/originweb/play4free/pbPage.play-free-games-en_ZA
If the URL fails to load, keep refreshing until it does.
When it loads click 'Get it now' on the BF3 Beta banner.
It launches the Origin client and starts the download.

Finally got to play a bit tonight. I was expecting worse from the browser launcher setup, got into a game pretty quickly.
I must say I'm really I'm really impressed with the gameplay so far, it feels intense and exciting. Guns are responsive and sound awesome. They haven't increased the damage packets too much which, for me, is a relief.

Managed to play a couple of rounds on the Caspian border map. It's quite overwhelming at first, just because of the sheer scale of it all. Vehicles handle well from what I've tried out.
Locally? Sounds cool though, can't wait to try out that map. Is that map much more "resource hungry" because of all the extras, or would you say it runs similar compared to the current map?

I must say, I actually like launching the game through the browser.
Why? Well, because usually when want to play; you'd launch the game, then need to sit through a loading screen and several warnings. logos etc ... and then only get to see the main menu. From the main menu you'd select multiplayer, select server and finally go through yet another loading screen.
I've found joining a game is much quicker than BFBC2.

^ Very true. I love this new system.
I hope this starts a new trend where multiplayer games can be easily accessible via a browser, just seems a lot more efficient and cleaner. In game server browsers usually irritate me.

Only thing i dislike is going through origin.... Then browser.... Then game.... Origin app can fro

what i hate is the fact that you can do nothing in the killcam mode, not evens change your settings ... hell you cant evens change your settings if you not in the game evens
