Battlefield 3 PC discussion thread MK II

Download something to monitor you GFX card temperature. Sounds like something is overheating. Check that all your fans are working properly.

My BF3 has developed the very annoying habit of crashing my PC. But it doesn't crash with a blue screen, or an app crash or anything. It actually literally freezes and the audio keeps on stuttering forever. It never happened in the past, but only started the last time I played. I'm not even able to play an hour without an issue.

I've ruled out the normal suspects - no malware or virii, latest Nvidia drivers. I have also only seen it happen in BF3. My Fear 3 doesn't have any similar issues.

Any ideas?

As heckers said, could be GPU getting too hot, I would recommend MSI Afterburner. You can set your fan to speed up/down when the GPU gets hot/cooler. Works wonders on my system. Went from 70C at 40% fan speed to 60C at variable fan speeds.

Had this exact problem, had to down clock my GPU after the last update.

My Clock speeds reset to default after i start my PC each day so i need to remember to load up the lower clocked profile otherwise it freezes again (which happens allot because i tend to forget)

Might be an overheating problem,i haven't cleaned my case in 10months now, should probably do it today if i ever find the compressor in the wendy.

Still way to far off to really say. This is my first BF ever so i will probably get BF4.
Never gotten into COD.
I might give CS:Go a proper shot though. I think the uptake for it is going to be huge and this is a huge factor for me as I am super competitive and the more people to play against the better.

Ja I'm also thinking of giving CS:GO a GO (:p) since I am originally a CS player as well. Will see how it goes.

Also a +1 for Bf4 for me since I never got to get into BF like all the other guys. My first BF game was BC2. Let's just hope it's not a rushed piece of crap. There's so much more they could have done for the BF series in BF3, but ja..That's just my opinion. :D

I didnt even play BC2 so i have reference to other BF games, so for that reason i actually think BF3 is pretty damn good and im happy with it.

Thanks, will give that a bash. I downloaded gputemp which supports my gpu. But doesn't look like it can write temperatures to a file. That would be a very handy feature because when my PC crashes I won't be able to alt tab and check app for the temperature.

Currently sitting at 31degC and 4% load...

Can MSI Afterburner write temperatures to a file?

I feel as though BF4 is a bit rushed,if i was them i would rather have announced a Beta once all the BF3 DLC's were out.

Guess i'll try it out since i have nothing to loose.

OMFG!
