Nice, I'm excited to see that they're planning on beefing up the jets' effectiveness. Just recently unlocked the rocket pods, still need to test them out properly to see if they can be effective tank killers.
Traditionally I would use rockets against soft targets, not tanks.
I want rocket pods too but all I seem to do is zoom around the battlefield and crash when trying to do strafing runs!!! :(
 
i think the counter measures of the helis and jets should be reworked, how is it possible to have an infinite amount of them ... what makes it worst is that fact that the pilot and gunner and have that perk/attachment so that they can have double the amount ... was the plan to keep the same heli in the sky forever? do they know people dont know how to use the sam launcher, ai sad days

oh, this is probably the 1st time i would probably say this but it seems hardcore was actually more enjoyable than the normal mode just because of the fact that your team revives fallen comrades instead of just running over them

well your argument holds valid points i must disagree....and heres why

i myself love flying the choppers, thats my thing but im having to contend with

1. Stingers from ground infantry sometimes 4 okes locking onto me at once
2. Enemy jets the also lockon and shoot at me
3. Mobile AA which does a HUGE amount of damage, has stinger missles to and knocks you back cause the heli to be 90% uncontrollable
4. Tanks own 50 cal gun which also does damage
5 Also enemy choppers that too have stingers

Now all that attacking me at once pretty much makes it near impossible to fly, flares are my lifesaver, when i need to get out of a bad place, flares do the job, flares are not an offensive too, its a defensive once, take a choppers flares away and you really dont stand a chance so no, the flares must stay as is, its hard enough WITH them. As for the gunners having flares, i thinks thats fair also the gunners flares are bugged, they do not always work.....note it requires teamwork also to co-ordinate flares correctly between pilot and gunner

IMO the stingers from ground infanty are abit of BS, one dude should never ever be able to single handedly take out a chopper, that is a huge imbalance IMO.

If anything the choppers need a buff, they need to be able to atleast have a fair chance against that pesky AA that knocks you back just like BC2....

I agree.

Stingers are BS and they have near unlimited lock-on range which is a big load of shit. And with all those things already shooting at you, all you need is one noob with a stinger to constantly lock on to you with seemingly unlimited stinger rockets and choppers become quite a mission to fly.

That's why I fly the jets in BF3, the choppers are just way too underpowered. The jets too, but at least they're getting a buff with the new patch.
 
I challenge you to sit in a chopper real life and let a stinger hit your chopper and tell me if it stays up or down?

Yes, you could have all those stingers, players, AA locking onto you in theory, but realistically you will seldom have more than maybe one or two okes bothering with the choppers/jets simply beacuse it is nigh impossible to bring them down anyways. I say let the choppers and jets also have limited ammo and flares just like infantary. If the need more, they need to fly back over their base ala BF2 style. Makes it a lot fairer in my opnion.

What REALLY needs to be adjusted in my opinion though is the disabled vehicle thing. If I disable a tank/jet/chopper then it shouldn't be able to fly off or drive off. An air vehicle should pretty much drop from the sky, unless he has extinguishers. Land vehicles should NOT be able to drive off. Yes, they can maybe still shoot, but I would also slow the speeds of the aiming and for all vehicles also reduce the time it takes to bail out of you plane/tank/chopper. Otherwise what is the point of getting disbale vehicle scores and ribbons etc?

No ... well ... yes and no. Stingers were specifically designed to knock choppers out of the sky - they could one shot a Hind, and those things could take direct cannon shots and still keep flying. Nevermind choppers ... Stingers can take out airplanes as well.
 
In regards to flares / Chaff Countermeasures
A Standard combat loadout for an AH64 Apache is 2 Wingtip Harmount Countermeasure Pods with 512 chaff/flare cartridges in each pod

Therefore, the amount of Flares carried by the ingame helicopters is relatively balanced

Yes but the point I was making is that in REAL LIFE combat helicopters carry a LOT of countermeasures
I don't think the amount of countermeasures carried in game by the Helo's is excessive

I wish I had countermeasures for my plastic tanks :/
 
I also wish they would improve the blast radius and damage model that explosives do against infantary. That small little room on grand bazaar where the first B bomb is situated. Insane, because 7 okes chucks nades in there and you lucky to get on or two kills. I've chucked C4 in their before and only managed an hit reg indicator, but no kills.

Other thing that is insane is when flying the A10 tank killer is you strafe a tank with cannons and it kaks pretty quickly. You do the same to infantary and you lucky to get a 30 or 40 kill assist. Seriously, surely a cannon that eats tanks for breakfast should vaporise infantary?
 
um, where do you get that Stingers have near unlimited lock-on range???

it is a bit of a double sided coin... I cannot comment much in regards to how annoying/effective the AA is to a jet, because I have never flown one, but from a guy who uses the AA a lot, my POV comes down to it being really weak (maybe not in power, but in overall usage).
the same can be said for guys that have not used the AA or the stingers a lot, but have flown a lot.
the problem isn't the effectiveness of single AA/stingers, it is the amount (reading from what was said). if they could get a way to lessen the AMOUNT per map, then there would be a problem in the effectiveness.
also here is mention that tanks have .50 cal machine guns, but how often do you get them using it on choppers? not to mention, if a chopper merely gets disable with a tank shell head-on, how much damage do you think it is going to take from the machine gun to be of any use??
I have a few times been taken out by a jet softening me up and then a chopper comes and takes me out with 1 well placed salvo.
 
In Total I've shot down three helicopters with my tank, theres a huge blind spot that the turret cannot rotate to above the tank that makes a running strategy the only effective way of staying alive in a tank vs helicopter fight
Although, I did mention this before to Spartan, I don't know what the view radius is below the helicopter when it is inside that blind spot (ie wether or not the helicopter gunner can actualyl see the tank below him)
 
Oh and the AA tank that can destroy ANYTHING on the map is also ridiculous. I mean last night, Ingwe was playing in the mobile AA tank and took out my tank from over 250m with only a AA tank. That is just not right in my opinion.

Does anyone have any idea when the next patchis being released?

That's because there's always some assault-type sod (me usually) building walls out of medpacks in there :p
