BF vs COD {Need opinions}

Right,

[First thing's first. I don't want a flame war up in this bitch cause it seems this is like LoL vs DotA type topic.]

Having not played any FPS since CSS started getting big I have been looking at the current scene.
Seems CoD and BF are the big boys. I would like to get one but I have no clue what the differences between them are in the least.
I watched some BF3 streams and it looks pretty intense.

Could you fine people of the interwebs please point out what the main diff's are and summarize your preference and reason.
I think the most recent CoD is Ghosts and BF is 4 so let's keep it on those.

Much love. GPyro

Depends what you are after in a game.

I don't play COD, but as I understand it, it's more fast paced, close quarters, every man for himself type gameplay, and infantry only (AFAIK).

I've played loads of BF though, and it's at its best on the large maps with lots of vehicles and aircraft, and best played with a squad who supports each other, although there are close quarters, infantry only maps and game modes as well.

Basically if you like to play as a lone wolf, COD might be your best bet, but if you enjoy teamwork, go for BF

Going to keep an eye on this thread, gonna get interesting :p

In my opinion, no major difference, just different implementation.

Both games:
Variety of guns - checked
Ranking -checked
Soldier Perks - checked
Customization - checked
Unlocks - checked
Vehicles - checked
Destructible environments - checked
Sh!tty single player story - checked
Lens flares - checked
Good o' FPS games modes - checked

The fan clubs can now argue who does each category better. :)

let me start off by saying choose BF4 straight away.. haha.. but lets compare.. :D

COD could be a viable option for you if you like fast paced games with 9 v 9 with guns and kill streaks

in BF4 you have 32 v 32.. so more people to shoot at. Then you also have a choice to get into vehicles/airplanes :)

If for some strange reason you don't like vehicles you can join a TDM or a Domination game in BF4 to just play Close quarters without pesky armor shooting at you :)

#COD4LIFE!!11!! :p

But seriously, I think Matt's explanation pretty much covers it. I haven't played BF3 or 4 but the MP is, by all accounts, awesome.
And so is (was?) Black Ops 2.
If you're looking for a no bullshit review of both specific games, being Ghost and BF4, then read the Destructoid reviews of both (personally I think Jim Sterling hit the nail on the head multiple times with a big hammer regarding Ghosts)

Ok will give you some input first before I sit back and monitor this thread.

My friends say I'm a COD Fanboy and BF hater, however I pretty much like both games. If I have to compare the games currently, do note I have played about 5-6 hours of BF4 and about an hour of Ghosts, I have to pick BF4 unfortunately. There's things in both games that are pissing me off a lot and have actually made me wonder why I spent money on both games, but wasting money seems like a new hobby for me :wtf:

Both games are completely different, COD can be easily played on your own, where as BF4 is much more team orientated. I guess it mostly depends what are your friends playing and enjoying. Buy that to play with them, otherwise make some BF4 friends on MyGaming, join the "Your Face" server where most MyGaming people are playing I think or if you want to SOLO buy COD, but give it a few more weeks first to see if they fix some serious issues.

My personal opinion is that CoDs story is much better than BFs, and in turn, BFs multiplayer is much better than CoDs.
But then again there are some differences in the MP like CoD is more run and gun and BF it's more team and situation based.

COD ghost has so many problems right now.

Personally I would go for bf 4. Better graphics, personally prefer the team play and you get tanks, helis, planes.

Well i am a Battlefield fanboy so i can't tell you much about the Cod series.

What BF4 brings to the battlefield is variety. You probably heard people complaining that BF4 is copying some of the Cod Elements, this isn't completely true. With BF3 (and now BF4) they have started introducing a few infantry maps to appeal to a wider array of player interests.

BF4 has loads of new gamemodes, large, medium and small maps,a large variety of guns and vehicles as well as amazing sounds and graphics (the sounds of various vehicles and weapons change depending on the environment)

There aren't really allot of downsides other then NewGameSyndrome (lots of crashes but should be fixed because there weren't any/that many in Beta)

You might need some time to adapt to the 'feel' of the soldier though,it takes about half a second to get to full running speed (and half a second to slow down to walking pace) so you have to choose carefully when to run and when to walk because an enemy coming around a corner walking will have an advantage if he sees you the same time you see him (there is also a small delay in weapon accuracy, stopping from a walking pace and then shooting will give you very little spread over range compared to someone stopping from a sprinting pace)

All and all,i like BF4 (even though i haven't played a Cod game since Cod4)

You can also check up stats here and debate with them, they have an influence on what the Decision the balance team makes.

Ok dude, it's actually pretty damn simple. You wanted opinions, and that's what you'll get.

If any of these sound like your type of fun, get BF4 NOW:

*Absolute chaos with soldiers running everywhere with vehicles chasing them
*Simultaneous explosions from 2 or more sources of heavy armaments at the same time, in your face
*Big groups of enemies advancing on your position while you fortify and prepare your anus
*Jets flying over your head and sizzling your brand new haircut
*Watching in awe how a chopper that's flying over above you gets shot down by a big ass explosion
*Stabbing camping snipers on a hill 1km from you after making a dik mission to get some payback
*Driving a car full of C4 into tank and blowing the ******* out of him, pointing and laughing but then getting owned by wild tank appearing out of a forest in a roar of madness
*Running around on multiple levels of elevation and literally shooting that annoying sniper in the ass from 20 floors below
*Swimming in the sea and diving under a boat, sticking it with C4 and watching it blow to pieces as it ramps over a wave amidst a raging tropical storm

Too much content to mention, so if any of that sounds like entertainment to you, it's because it is.

Or you can go play CoD and unlock a golden gun camo.

Basically a perfect Summary:

CoD has a dog.

Yeah.....it's one of the killstreaks.

The bad part is that there so many dogs around the maps it's like you're playing Paw of Duty

BF4 hands down.

I used to be a HUGE COD fan. I played MP from COD2 onwards, and was hooked on BLOPS1 online. When I finally gave in and bought BF3 (all my mates had bought it, whilst I was still playing and addicted to MW3 at the time) I couldn't believe what I had been missing! COD is a joke in comparison imo.

BF3 and now 4 are just streaks ahead of COD in my opinion. There's just more game for your buck. I bought COD BLOPS2, and that was the biggest waste of money ever. I've bought BF4 and dont regret it for a second, I haven't even looked at COD:Ghosts.

Yup, the buck stopped at FLOPS 2 for me. I cannot believe I bought that piece of schitt. I played online for about 40 hours or so. Never looked back. I remember how disappointing I was with myself for actually buying that game that I wanted to burn the CD in petrol and make a video of it and put it on youtube the day BF3 came out :P
