BF vs COD {Need opinions}

Yup, the buck stopped at FLOPS 2 for me. I cannot believe I bought that piece of schitt. I played online for about 40 hours or so. Never looked back. I remember how disappointing I was with myself for actually buying that game that I wanted to burn the CD in petrol and make a video of it and put it on youtube the day BF3 came out :P
In my circle of initial COD friends (from BLOPS1 days), only one has stayed a loyal COD fan. The rest have all moved over to BF. Thats 1 in about 10 (maybe more). It just speaks for itself.

Well, I'm going to call this one early.

Looks like BF4 wins by a good margin.
Downsides : Origin only + 25gig download means it's gonna be a while before I can play.

Other than that I am amped to get online with it.

I wan't to thank everyone that contributed.

Feel free to flame on from here on out.

Ah well, COD is also 25Gb so either way you were going to have to download a lot, good choice

I must say, the only MP games that have consistently kept me coming back are BF:BC2 and BF3, and I'm sure BF4 will do it too. I've only had the chance to play it twice so far, but it's great

If you buy the boxed version you only need to download around 100mb-200mb of data (comes with 3 disks)

It's better to buy it early before the DLC's start coming out and the games size increases.

CoD - quick easy kills arcade shooter.

BF4 - slightly more serious arcade shooter, bigger maps and more varied gameplay with the option of playing in CoD style games.

Its a no brainer really.

I do love me some CoD though. The crapper graphics run awesome on my machine!:D

That's one thing that put me off BF - I recall lots of people on here complaining about massive patches every second day.

Ghosts requires a 1.5GB update out the box.

Right,

[First thing's first. I don't want a flame war up in this bitch cause it seems this is like LoL vs DotA type topic.]

Having not played any FPS since CSS started getting big I have been looking at the current scene.
Seems CoD and BF are the big boys. I would like to get one but I have no clue what the differences between them are in the least.
I watched some BF3 streams and it looks pretty intense.

Could you fine people of the interwebs please point out what the main diff's are and summarize your preference and reason.
I think the most recent CoD is Ghosts and BF is 4 so let's keep it on those.

Much love. GPyro

From someone that has played Black Ops 2 for 558 hours and only 2+ hours of BF3, here's my opinion.

From what I've seen online and the recent "Let's Play" of both Ghost and BF4, I choose BF4. I love my BO2 but BF really offers you that complete experience of massive team warfare and close quarters fighting. I love the way maps change in BF4 and and how your character and weapons level up and the fact that you have to play as a team to really benefit from the game. You add levels through actually supporting your teammates instead of going lone gunman.

Looking at Ghosts and BO2, I like the small game modes and game play. It is different to BF and it is difficult to compare the two objectively as it all boils down to personal play style and taste. I do like the feel of CoD games and the level and perk system. Ghost has introduced some really great additions to the game play but to me it isn't enough to draw me back to Ghost from BO2.

Both games has, in my opinion, stayed the same and either incorporated different elements from previous games, or improved on existing features. They haven't really innovated much besides the "levelution" thing and better graphics on next-gen and PC.

I'm going for BF4 and will maybe get Ghosts when it drops in price.

Hope this helps.

This has been a very informative thread and some interesting opinions from all. For me the lustre of online FPS gaming has died, so at the moment I am not interested in getting either one of these. I will say however, that from gameplay videos I've seen, and commentary I've read and listen to, it seems as if BF 4 is the shooter to have.

It's also interesting to note how badly CoD has been optimised, according to many many gamers. I wonder if this isn't the reason why the next-gen consoles have a disparity in resolution. I mean if TotalBiscuit can't get stable 60+ fps on a GTX Titan in CoD, I have to wonder how well Infinity Ward has optimised the game.

Yep, Ghosts is such a bad port to PC, when playing with a gamepad on PC it even helps with aim assist just like in the consoles, watch someone on PC find a way to utilise aim asssist with mouse and keyboard, that would be a fkin laugh :)

Ghosts runs like bollocks.
As far as the single player goes, some parts play just fine, but certain parts are bordering on unplayable. Like TB said, "it's bringing my rig to it's knees for no apparent reason".
At least it's not nearly as bad as Black Ops 1 was on release.

Right so what all these ppl seem to say is if you 16 and younger, an e-peen solo player and like a shitty game go play COD
&
If you 16+ and like an awesome game with nice teamplay options play BF4. Just be ready to swear a bit at Mweb (the hero to 0 ISP in 1 day), EA & Dice :D

I must add to this that BF4 also has its technical issues right now. Lots of freezing and crashing, rubber banding in some areas. Although they'll pretty much work around the clock to iron them out, I think its just inevitable with huge games these days.

Ghosts = No FOV = DO NOT FUCKING BUY IT!!

Once they fix that go right ahead lol

I don't get why guys are having performance issues, the game plays perfectly fine maxed out on my machine.
Maybe you really do need a monster to max the game...no idea why though..lol

There are also the so called "Battlefield Moments" when something happens and you go "I can't actually believe that just happened".

For instance, the other day, I shot down a jet with the main gun of my tank. I can't believe I managed that. Hitting a chopper is hard enough, but I've never hit a jet before. Granted the guy was diving straight for me, but it was awesome! He came in for a strafing run, and I ended up with jet wreckage flying past me.

Have a Google for "Only in Battlefield" to see some examples
