Bioshock creator on hardcore "1999 mode"

I like this. Make something Nintendo hard again. I tried out Sonic 4 Episode 1, and it bothered me how much the game has been dumbed down from it's Genesis roots, for now reason whatsoever.. Getting a game over screen every now and then is not the end of the world, and is one the nostalgic highlights, IMO.

I think giving the player a choice to play this mode is key. That way it doesn't put other, non "hardcore" players off.

this is awesome... im so glad this game isnt just going to be simple like most games nowadays... i just hope u dont need to unlock it before u can use it...

Sweet. I miss this kind of gaming. Nowadays games just hand you the ending without really even needing to try. I think this will go a long way to making gaming truly fun again

as much as i applaud this decision (and massive respect to those who choose this route) i have begun playing all my games on normal difficulty. the additional spike is usually not worth the grief. back when i was a student i had plenty of time to sit and game, so the challenge was fun. now that i have a family and a job, i find my gaming time very limited so unnecessary frustration and grief which cuts into my small gaming window is just not on.
