Blizzard shutting down Real money Auction house

Got an email from Blizzard saying it's only shutting down next year in March.
Might pick up the expansion and jam a bit then. :)

will see at Blizcom when they will release the game. If they going to do it the same way as Hots, players will not be getting the AH with the expansion. What i expect to happen on the market is that most items will go higher in price up to the point when the action house is gone. As long as the drop rate is abit better and system changes abit alot of players will leave but some might go back.

But it was still used...
Im not trying to say that the game will die more. I just dont see how every player will be going "OMG OMG AH is going YES now i can play properly like it used to be." I see about 80% of the players going back to the game trying it out for a few days then goes back on the pile to collect dust.

When the expansion comes out and the new system comes into play will be cool to see how they going to bring it back the spark.

i rate the game will come out around that time as well.

Take away a system from people that they got used to for a long while, then take it away you will have people rage.

Let them Rage all they want. D3 was never meant to have a AH, it ruins the core mechanics of the game.
All it did was make it a grind fest, pay to win, little to no enjoyment because of the shit loot table which is directly linked to the AH.
Think about it like this, bot numbers will drop by a huge amount, no more spending hours in the AH just to to try get a upgrade.

D3 is about face mashing bone crushing fuck you all action not a AH simulator :D

Woot! I'm going to definitely get the expansion now. The auction house killed the game. All respect to them for taking it out.

Yea dont you also think that if offline mode comes in Bot numbers will go up ?
Its all got to do with how the loot system will work. Grinding to get the epic get was what D2 was all about

All depends how it will be implemented and if the loot table is set up properly then there really won't be bots or very few.
I still play D2 lod so I know exactly what you mean, but D3 is complete shit vs D2 in that aspect. D2 you at least had a fairly decent chance of getting epic loot and on top of that it was fun knowing that what you put in you got out. I know D2 was by no means perfect but towards the end it was pretty much near perfect imo at least.

I don't see how anyone can argue that removing the AH is a bad thing. The AH is the thing that single-handedly ruined the experience for the majority of people, because it caused loot drops to be nerfed. Improve loot drops and nobody will have any incentive to use the AH.

So what if a few people get scammed on the black market or a few people leave because they can no longer sell items for 0.05cents on the RMAH. Removing the AH is the best move Blizzard can make for this game.

Nope, if there is an Offline mode, it would pretty much be a client side loot roll system ala Torchlight 2.

In short, no need to bot it if you can hack it.

And either way, if bot numbers go up, who cares? It doesn't affect me in the slightest, so why should I be worried about it?

I didn't have an issue with the Idea of an auction houseb, but more on how the implemented it and the loot drops. You were forced to use it because the drops were so bad. Blizzard saying you could play the game without using the AH was just bullshit. I don't know how many times I played the same section over and over again, just to try get some better items so I could progress (In the end using cash to buy items). If it was matter of some of the items you bought or buying the last item to complete a set, I would have been fine. In the end after I don't know how many hours, but a large amount, I bought my only legendary item. Never once did one drop.

I have since played Torchlight 2, and found it far more enjoyable, less grindy than diablo 3.

This is what I was wondering. Who cares about bots if there is no auction house? The bots won't affect me in any way.

Kinda pointless, people will still be going to third party sites such as d2jsp

It doesn't matter if people still go to the third party sites. What does matter is that the AH and RMAH won't be affecting the drop rate of loot anymore and will in turn make the game fun. No more grinding to find an item to sell to get loot to be able to play the game. Now you will have to grind to get loot directly and the dropped loot will be better as there will be no global economy flooded with powerful gear. The rewards will now be directly tied to the actions of the player.

How is the AH tied to loot drop rates, serious question. Like for example in DDO, the rare loot is still as rare as a Heidi Klum drol, regardless of the AH or ASAH. Does the removal now in Diablo mean that drop rates get upped or something?

They are redesigning the loot system with loot 2.0, so a lot will change upon implementation.

Redesigning how though? Is it now an easy button for rare loot? Have the hardcore grinders been done in or no?

It is/was a massive task for them, that's why it has taken them almost a year and a half to do. Kudos to them for still improving the game. If they had launched this game on 15 May 2012, the review scores would have been considerably better.

It's been made easier to get rare loot, yes, but in previous versions of D3 it was near impossible to find rare loot for your character without using the AH. Finding set items were, simply put, impossible. You could grind for 100 hours and still not even be halfway done with a set.

Loot drops were nerfed purposely so you'd have to use the AH and this new loot system aims to fix that.
