Bloodborne: the official thread

Yeah, I've mentioned this numerous times. Very cool indeed.

I like to try alone without any aids or assistance a few times first.

Spoiler: show

I have a Music Box which it's item description has his name and Viola. I've put two and two together that I must need to do something with it, but it doesn't really do much but open it and close it. Unless I use it in the boss fight with him, which I haven't tried.

And what do you guys make of the loading times?

I don't really mind them as it tends to give you a breather and relax you a little.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about.
Spoiler: show
If you use during the fight it stuns him for a few seconds and gives you a chance to get a hit or two in, but it also causes him to go full beast mode quicker which I haven't figured out if it's a bad or good thing. I used it 2 or 3 times and he transformed at about half his health and then I was able to beat him in beast mode, but it might have been luck [emoji14].

Loading times don't bother me in the least, as you say gives me time to cool down and refocus.

for the guys who have some experience, what's the general consensus on Skill vs Strength ? any overwhelming reason to favour one over the other? I am leaning towards a skill build to capitalise on quicker weapons

Watch the video BeoTeK posted a few posts back if you haven't already. Really sums it up nicely and actually helped me to plan my build a bit.

I read at neogaf that from have a patch in the works to shorten the load times and thank god for Bloodborne I need a serious pick me up after the cricket blowout lol.

Man you guys are hyping me up for this. On the one hand I want to try this, but on the other hand I'm not sure if I won't break a controller or throw it through me TV.

I dunno, maybe from playing so much Demon's/Dark Souls over the past few years I'm kind of conditioned for it. It really doesn't phase me, though I do get frustrated at times I don't find myself rage quitting like I used to when I first started playing the franchise. I actually find myself raging and getting more fed up in games like Rogue Legacy and OlliOlli.

Edit: on another note, Bloodborne Press Release

I think the PvP aspect is gonna show some real promise. With the regain system you gonna have time your attacks know when to stay clear so that their health doesn't regen. Thoughts?

A press statement from From Software on Bloodborne Long Load Time issue reads:
"The development team is currently exploring another patch for Bloodborne, seeking ways to improve load time duration, in addition to other performance optimizations and miscellaneous bug fixes."

Anyone had any PvP interactions as yet?

I must admit, I'm kinda hesitant about this, generally in *Souls it wasn't exactly my best area.

Yeah, I'm also not a fan or PvP in Souls games, would rather summon someone to co-op with.

On that note, any of you get the co-op working yet? I can see phantoms running around and notes and death spectres everywhere but I can't seem to summon anyone. I have the bell but I can't use it, it just stays greyed out in my quick inventory.

I've managed to use the bell but didn't find anyone to match with before I died. I see marks to show spectre but I don't see anything when I press x

Also, I'm not a fan of the cape whip! Went back to my original character and now can't get online, so servers must be overwhelmed.

I actually managed to summon someone a few minutes ago , although both of us died about 30 seconds later [emoji14] Got my first really visible frame drops in Old Yahrnam as well. Will play again tomorrow night when I can play all night long...

Insightful mind. Your Insight level is shown in the upper right-hand corner of the screen under your Blood Echoes. It indicates the depth of inhuman knowledge you have attained, and you can spend a point to call in other players for help. Pay close attention to your Insight level — things around you may change as it increases…
– Kumi Yuasa, SCEA Bloodborne Producer

What that means I have no clue, eager though :p

Also I've noticed, you can spend an insight point to beckon someone. If you end the beckoning with/without your buddy that point is lost. However, if you use a point to beckon and you both go into the boss fight and you die, that point is returned to you.

I was a bit hesitant about this one, but after reading the review round up, and seeing how everyone is raving about this game it must be incredible! Iv just got so much to play through though... Still need to get through Dying light...

Here we have a game that gives you the tools to tear up multiple beasts at once, gives you powerfully versatile weapons, and lets you heal more frequently. Fans of From Software’s harsh brand of justice may quite rightly be worried that the studio’s getting softer, but as promised, there’s a damn good reason for all these boons. Bloodborne is an altogether vicious experience. Yes, you can swing a blade and swipe at three or four fiends at once – that doesn’t change the fact there are four psychopathic mutants going apeshit at you. Your average Souls encounter has always hit hard, but these ones hit hard and hit often, with Hunters easily becoming overwhelmed should they not take care.
