I have just bought a second-hand game from BT Games recently and to my surprise, they would not allow me to buy the game without me giving them my personal details. I have bought games from them several times and never had this issue.... in fact, they do not request that I give them my information when buying a new game.
So, according to them, they have this new second-hand game policy where the "police" require it of them so ensure that stolen goods aren't sold and whatnot. I have yet to see this system being implemented anywhere else.
Now, I would perfectly understand if they request this from a seller of the game, as they do not know where it came from, but me as a customer, I am going and legitimately buying a game from them (a legitimate store whom should ensure that they are not selling me stolen goods). I doubt that is illegal. Why do they need my information?
I doubt I will be buying many more second-hand games in future.
What are your thoughts on this?
