Again, I don't think the "look" of the site itself is bad. But small things, for example on the main site, notice the Aion pre-order box? Clicking on the box takes you to the Aion product's page. Clicking on the Aion text takes you to a Harry Potter game.
The functionality of the site is finicky and sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. Try changing your address and information or adding things to your wishlist, log off, log back on and see if everything you changed is still there. I can almost guarantee you that maybe a third of the details you changed will have taken effect.
The fact that the site's developer advertises herself at the bottom left as being from Bryncoed Software, then goes on to give an Mweb e-mail address, does very, very little to bolster confidence in the level of professionalism taken to develop the site.
And, in case you haven't noticed it yet,
there is no security certificate. Meaning, in purely simple terms that there is no encryption between your computer and the server when you log into your account. Your information, details and privacy is not protected. Each time you shop there, you take an unreasonable risk. It's as simple as that. If you don't understand why a security certificate is important, then please, do yourself a favour and find out.
Again, I, personally, have no problem with the company. I have no problem with the general "look" of their website. My problem is the lack of commitment in the maintenance, functionality and security of the site. It needs work. If you cannot (or simply don't
want) to see that, then you are most likely a fanboi or blind, or perhaps even both.
Worst of all, you don't have to look far to find a lack of professionalism in the site. There are spelling errors, typos and the like on almost every page.
*Sigh* It's really very simple. When it comes to functionality and "polish" (as some people like to call it) does BT Games' website compare to the likes of Take2? No. When it comes to security and professionalism, does BT Games' website compare to the likes of Take2? No.
Could BT Games' site rival the likes of Take2 if they even
half-way bothered to bring it up to scratch? Most
definitely.
If you want to support a company, you shouldn't be afraid of giving them constructive criticism. They can only improve upon it. If they don't, then they're not much of a company, are they?
Ah, but sometimes stubborn impudence will prevail in the face of reason.
