The general synod of the Dutch Reformed Church will be asked by its Western Cape moderator to consider accepting homosexual relationships and pastors, Beeld reported on Thursday.

Western Cape moderator Dr Frits Gaum said the proposals were the collective plea of 26 church parishioners, among them Gaum's own son, Laurie.

The issue was "a very divisive one in churches all over the world", but the general synod should consider the request "in a sober, scripture-guided...read more here: Church to be asked to accept gays

One question: what's the Bible's/ The LORD's opinion on gays?

The bible's stance on it is pretty clear. It forms a pretty big part of why I'm not christian as I don't want any part of a religion that condemns two consenting adults loving each other and doing no harm in the process.

For that matter, I also don't think churches should be forced to accept something that's against against their beliefs. I really feel for homosexual christians on that matter, but I've never seen the point of following a religion that is so clear on the fact that something you have no control over is against their deity.

My christian beliefs are as the Bible tells me, however... I'm not a practicing christian, but I am one nonetheless.
I'm not a very religious person, but, there are certain rules by which I have to abide.

+1

That's why I don't want to see this topic discussed. Christianity = homosexuality is sin (according to the bible). If they take the 'sin' part away then they change their religion, a.k.a they aren't Christians anymore...

I always find it very curious when people say this. How does that work? As far as I'm aware, there are two categories. Either you are religious, or you are not. Either you believe in god and what the bible (the word of god) says, or you don't. I don't see how there can really be a middle path.

My definition of my religious PoV is:

I believe in Christ. Therefore I should follow in his ways. Do my christian duties (as seen right in his eyes).

The reason I say I'm not very religious, even though I'm though I'm a christian is:

I don't do as a christian should. I believe Christ is my saviour, but I do not practice my christian ways. In fact; my ways are quite off the path. I do not appreciate people using his name in vain though. I have committed this sin myself before, however.

Bottom line: I believe in Christ, but do not follow his ways... Exactly.

Sometimes feels like I'm borderlining Atheism and Christianity.

On a side note: please use a capital G when referring to God. Since we're talking about God and not just any god.

Will that get you in heaven?:wtf:

No more personal religious stories from me. I've said enough. Besides; this topic of discussion is being derailed. :)

Too each their own on how to follow God. Personally I try to read my bible each day and that works for me, I often find gems in the plan I'm following which help.

However I also don't see why you would want to force yourself into a community that doesn't want you. Then if you are allowed in who says that they will accept you and listen, will you get another order to force them to be your friend?
