CoD: MW 3 vs. Battlefield 3

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how it works, but as far as I understand, Nvidia cards have built-in Physx hardware. Ati doesn't, so they suffer with Physx intensive games. I tried playing with Physx in Mirror's Edge, and it turned into lag central. :P

As far as I know you get dedicated Physics cards, though. If I'm not mistaken about their existance, I'll just get myself one sometime.

PhysX works on ATI cards at full performance, but its "blocked". You can get some community created Catalyst drivers which enable PhysX on ATI cards, its not a hardware limitation. The hack drivers are VERY old though, NVidia asked the guy who was creating them to stop.

BBC2 uses Havok which is software (CPU) physics.

Havok and NVidia PhysX are both propriety API's and sometimes you'll find games that will use NVidia hardware to help with PhysX calculations. However, both Havok and PhysX also have software implementations, which uses CPU only.

(If you scroll down to the bottom, you'll find a list of games using hardware acceleration.)

I think most people will get both games in anyway. Personally BF3 only as after MW2 I aill NOT buy MW3 just on principle. Enjoying COD BO mostly because of the NGL but when BF3 comes or a BF3 league then bye bye COD forever.

I've never liked BF games. Just way too slow compared to Unreal and COD. I also don't enjoy the vehicles. The only game that I've liked that is in Unreal.

On console there aren't any local servers so that is a huge negative as well. This is the PC section so I guess that doesn't count, but gameplay-wise COD destroys BF. :P

no. Just no

What a boring world this would be if we all liked the same things ;)

I've tried.. Really, I have. I played the first one, then many different versions after that. The last game a bought was Bad Company. Never again. It's a waste of money for me. I really just don't like the style of the game. Slow slow slooooowwww. :)

Will give it a try at a buddies place. But ja, Unreal ftw! :P
