Comic Books

For anyone who is interested: Comixology's Monday Marvel sale is the new run of Captain Marvel. This is apparently really good and I am considering this. http://www.comixology.com/Captain-Marvel-Avengers-Assemble-Sale/page/662

Thanks, will check it out. I like it when they give the fringe/lesser known characters some good "airtime". Get's a bit tiring reading the same stories with the same characters. That's how I came about reading The Immortal Iron Fist, which I bet is a Marvel character most people won't even know about.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Dude, I discovered Luke Cage like that when the Noir sale was on last year. His Noir series was fantastic, played out like a real gritty murder noir movie.

dudes, i just watched the Watchmen bluray this weekend and its friggin AMAZING!!! quality of acting was good, script was spot on, visual fx were excellent and most of all....amazingly....the ending of the movie was actually better, cleverer and more logical than the Graphic Novel! :D

I loved the movie (I own the collector's edition on DVD and BluRay - long story), but I felt that the pure hopelessness of the graphic novel was better.

There are so many names that I like in the credits of this book. So you've got two now? "whistling:

Haha, I actually also have two of these. Dunno how I ended up buying two. Sometimes Shane put stuff in my call order I've already bought, but I usually pick it up when I got the stuff. Somehow I missed the 2nd copy of the 700th issue. Probably not that bad a thing considering it's a landmark issue I guess.

Yeah, hold onto that. One day, it might be worth something. And then you'll have a backup.

So I'm midway through my Tomb Raider compendium and starting to feel gaps in the storyline. It appears there was a crossover series with the Witchblade comics and a lot of the story seems to reference that at the moment. So now I'll need to try and track those down. Noob comic question, but are comics available as ebooks? I can't bare paying another hefty some for what is sure to be a super rare comic series.

Movie is incredibly good. At times it felt as if the lifted the content directly from the pages of the GN and just made it move. It was waay too good.

One very sad thing about comic book collecting in SA though, is that no one will buy what you have for the right price. South Africans just don't know what things are worth, or if they do, they will never even offer anything close to it.

Yes...and I will be coleccting all the world's copies so I have a monopoly on the issue :p

This is a negative...but on the plus side you get to buy things that are worth a ton for a lot less :D

I'm actually in the process of framing some of my more favourite comics. Will put up a few pics when it's done. Damn expensive if you do it properly. Got quite a few covers that are nice. JSA from a few years back (Alex Ross work), JLA (Jim Lee work) etc etc. A few one shots like Superman # 75, signed Green Lantern Rebirths and Flash Rebirths etc etc.

See if you can't find it digitally, like on Comixology, or wherever Top Cow sells their stuff. You'll have a better chance there than trying to get physical copies of those books.

That's a cool idea. Just watch for sunlight, that'll screw the books up badly.

but you gotta admit that the ending of the movie was a stroke of GENIUS! it made much more sense and was made the plan of the "key villian" even MORE brilliant and sneaky

Thanks. Did a search for Tomb Raider there don't seem to be any results, and Witchblade brings up a ton of different results. Will have to do some more research into what issues dear Lara was actually featured in.

You can actually buy comics through comixology, or DC and Marvel apps. They really are great. Interfaces are outstanding, and actually makes you feel like you have a collection.
