Comic Books

I much prefer self contained series keeps me interested , once I have to jump books or books I don't have I lose interest
I have dropped plenty because of those , On a side note I have to get me a copy of Deadpool 27 that there will be worth a lot in years to come .

Yeah. I despise tie-ins.

That Deadpool will be tough to find, people are buying them up. Holding a world record and all...

I just read Batman #29. If there is one issue that I'll remember from Snyder and Capullo's run, it'll be this one. What do you call it when you are scared to read another comic book for the fear of it not being as good as the one you just read?

is it that good , is it story with artwork or pure story that made it so .
@ Tom its the Issue with the most ever Marvel characters on it so its going to be a collectors item .I would like to just get one and encase it and in 30 years take it out again

Both. Snyder and Capullo are both showing why they are writing DC's flagship book. Fair warning though, you have to be up to scratch with Zero Year to fully grasp what is going on.

The artwork and the writing is above anything else that is being done by the big 2 right now.

I love the style , very very smooth
Is this part of the 75th anniversary special or stand alone , it is very very awesome

Standalone, it is Batman #29 (the issue before the end of Zero Year, I think). The 75th Anniversary issue was Detective Comics #27.

So...how about that whole Comixology-Amazon thing?

Comixology retired it's iOS app and in-app purchases. Now you have to download a new reader app and you're only able to buy comics off their website. Still waiting on confirmation on Google Play store.

That'll curb my impulse buying a bit.

It's a bit odd, and somewhat backwater thinking from Amazon's side. I generally only buy directly off the comixology website anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I can see why they did that. They give a huge percentage of each iOS sale to Apple for facilitating the transaction. But now they might lose a sale here or there because of their move.

EDIT: Apple takes 30% of each sale on the app store and in-app purchases.

i picked up "From Hell" this weekend. holy heck, i had no idea it was so gigantic! looking forward to getting stuck into it soon :) if only i had more free time :(

Anyone know anything about the 3rd of May being free comic book day?

Apparently they supposed to give away a free comic at all comic shops?

I tend to go every year (not this year, though). There's normally some catch to it, because stores buy the books themselves...like use a voucher to buy something and get 3 of the FCBD special books. There's a predefined list of books that entice new readers to jump into other books. Normally a bunch or standalone stories. And they tend to be good books.

I'm currently listening to Fat Man on Batman, the Captain America episode. Some compelling stuff being discussed :D (@Avenged, thanks for introducing to the Smodcast content :D)

Lekker bru, those are some good 'casts to listen to. Check out the shows that feature legendary Batman creators, like Grant Morrison. You'll love it, Morrison is a true literary genius.
