Cricket Thread - not the bugs but the buggers playing it :)

Yeah, that'll have a bit to do with it. I would have expected that the players would have isolated themselves from it. But I guess not. Pity.

Kind of similar with what happened when France play Bafana in the 2010. But then again Australia are in a retraining phase where most of the players are newer ones so they are not as good as they used to be.
But then again take nothing away from the English they are playing really well.

So are the Proteas also in a rebuilding phase. I really hope so. They looked really poor against the Sri Lankans. Then again, I heard today that they have a terrible record against them in Sri Lanka. Not sure if true.

English are doing a good job of exploiting their own conditions. Just cannot see how the Aussies are going to come back in this series. Pity because it's becoming really one sided.

I'm glad the English are beating the Aussies - no matter that it is one sided.
As for South Africa, they need to pull up their socks against SL.

Disagree. Sorry. There is nothing worse in my mind than the arrogance of the English. Nothing. Nada. Niks. Zero. It's painful. I'd rather listen to opera sung in Chinese than hear them go on and on about how good they are.

Exactly how I feel about the Aussies. Although the ashes always make me wish cricket had a way for both sides to loose.

As far as SA in SL goes: I'm expecting SA to win the next two games easily before SL bounces back in the fourth. The fifth and deciding ODI is anyone's guess.

No I think they will beat us 4 -1. Had it been in SA it would have been 3 - 2 to SA. AS McT says, South Africa have a terrible record up there, tests are better though.

I just hope the games would be closer, I would probably want England to lose but that is just in spite of some Saffa friends I have up there :p otherwise I don't really mind who wins, if England do lose though they do drop a bit in the rankings which does South Africa some good :)

I think (hope) we are better than that. SL is no push-over team, but we should still be able to beat them in ODIs. T20s are another matter. I don't expect much from our guys in the shortest form.
But we should have a better idea just where we fit in the pecking-order after tomorrow

Yeah, the Ashes brings out the desire to wish the worst in both, which isn't possible. I suppose that 5 draws would be in order?

So the second ODI is tomorrow. Hashim's fitness is still uncertain. We need him for to strengthen the batting line up. Lopsy is apparently fit and should play, although I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

SL are ranked number 4 in ODI while SA are number 5

SL have home ground advantage so yeah I still reckon 4 - 1

I will go with 2 wins for us. Even with home advantage I think we will do better I mean we are ranked only one below them? Ok T20 I think we will be hammered.

Its not only the fact that they are ranked higher its that SA have such a bad record there and the fact that we are fielding guys with injuries or top players like Steyn and Amla aren't in at all.

Anyway game on today, looking forward, to it, well watching the score feed on espn.

Any reason why Steyn and Amla aren't in?

Oh ja shyt :( Forgot about that. Enjoy the game :)

Looks like Amla might be in, but I know he had some severe stiffness with his neck and back so I don't know how 100% game ready he is.
I think Steyn has an ankle injury.

However not often that we have 3 spinners in a game, I really hope Phangiso shows what he is capable of.

Thanks haven't been following every game :D

I miss Pat Symcox when he use to bowl.

Showing your age :p

Absolutely agree apart from the height he used with his gentle turn, he was a real character that spiced up the dullest of games :)

Amla in, Ingram out, play due to start in 10 minutes. Not very good weather though, there has been quite a bit of rain. SL won the toss and will bat first. Ground is more suited for bowling first though so hopefully SA can get an early breakthrough.

Wish I wasn't at work so I could watch the game :(

Yeah and his batting wasn't too shabby either

Funnily enough I don't remember much about his batting all I remember is Jonty Rhodes and Hansie too :p
