Crysis 2 Screenshots

Looks like shots from a trailer or opening scene - freakin shweet looking !!!!!!!!
This games gonna murder my PC :D

Seems we will need a motherboard with 4 i7 Cpu's, 32Terrabyte ram, and Quad Sli GTX300 cards just to render the Menu.

on low settings :p

As you approach your current PC with the Crysis 2 disc in your hand, your CPU kaks, speakers explode and your monitor melts.
True story.

From what I know of this game, Crysis 2 was designed to run on the XBOX 360 and the PS3. That means it shouldn't be any harder to run on a PC than the original Crysis. Remember, the PS3 or XBOX 360 cannot run Crysis 1, but some PC's can quite easily.

Crysis was really badly coded IMHO. Warhead wa a bit better.

I Say Hax. and Conspiracy alongside Nvidia and Intel to sell hardware to run the game better.

Agreed. but it was much better after v1.2 Patch.

The screenies look really good, a lot detail. I am going to need 10x nvidia cards running SLI!

There's actually nothing wrong with the Cryengine in terms of coding. What really makes Crysis a performance killer is no "optimization". By optimization, I mean loading lower res textures in the distance, having lower res textures to start with, using a skybox for rendering things in the distance, unloading textures when they are not in LOS anymore, unload "detailed" objects in the distance, shave "unnoticeable" polygons off the 3D models etc. etc., all that stuff in most games that gives them the good old popping in effect. Crysis had most of that switched off, it went against what they were going for by trying to "get close to and exceed a CGI movie" and it really does look that good IF you can run it maxxed out with decent FPS.

I'm would guess Crysis 2 would have a lot more of that enabled to make it viable for the console market, along with a lower resolution (600p?) and a mixture of low-medium settings (FarCry 2).

What I'd really like to know is, can I still run Crysis 2 in a Crysis 1 "unoptimized" mode.

Yippeee...i can actually play a crisis properly now with console. My pc is crap so couldn't really play the firts one properly.

Hmmm, You make a lot of sense.

I still call Hax though :p

From a console perspective optimisation means hitting the wall of a specified hardware set without affecting performance. From a PC perspective it means that an engine is scalable enough that anyone with any configuration can still play it - ideally upscaling slightly beyond present-day limits. Crysis actually did a very good job at that. I had a 7300gt and it ran fine at 1024 on minimum, but it requires a 5970 to push 60fps.

Not banking on this one. The original was... underwhelming...

Super graphics, but not so good gameplay / setting.
Too many people short their shits, (see what I did there?) for graphics.
Gameplay > Graphics.

Those are in game photos ....
Yes you will have to sell you grandmother to buy a card /cards to run this
Console Version will be scaled down
Pc version is being designed to set a new benchmark for graphics just as the first one did .

.....You might have to sell your mother as well just to be on the safe side.

Upon further investigation it seems that this is just promo material and not ingame
So your mum and grandma is safe for now

I have to admit I really liked playing Crysis up to the point where the aliens took over. Then it became another alien-shooter and I really don't like games like that. Now though, I've played Bad Company 2 and the game is fantastic. Lots of mercenaries to kill and no aliens in sight. This is what Crysis should have been because the alien section of the game really took a lot away from the experience. Well, for me personally it did.

Yeah, the first one degraded into a playable tech demo pretty quick.

Let's hope they can avoid the hype machine and pull off a half-decent game this time.
