Crysis: Maximum Edition coming March 10th

My machine runs crysis with no hick ups on max settings res is 1440x900.

Yes but out of all the gamers in the world, not just PC gamers, how many do u think can say that? 20 or 30% It would even break the ps3 and xbox so there is little point. The other thing is there are engines which do atmosphere and such way better than cry. So i think the Cry3 is a better engine than 2.

Its the same engine more optimized. And thats the one I mean to see more developers using it.

You over estimate the requirements for this game. GTA IV needs a much more powerful PC just to run at 30+ fps. On my PC I get better framerates out of Crysis on high than I do from GTA. And GTA IV isn't the only example of a game that needs more. Currently Dragon Age Origins even has sections that don't run very well. This is a trend that will continue and I hope we do start seeing more Cryengine 3 games. UE3 is getting a little long in the tooth.

I run Dragon Age on Maximum everything and its smooth a a fanbois chin. I tried the same with Crysis... It crashed the win 7 machine.

The examples you gave above is the exact reason people go out and get consoles, being able to get maximum out of your game without having to wander down the path of forever upgrading.
Though i agree that the UE3 is being over used its mainly because every pc and their mother can use it with out sucking the recourses dry. I have high hopes for the Cry3 Engine, but i stick tooth and nail to what i said. Crysis, although a pretty game, it didn't really add anything new to the genre.

TBH, none of the UE3 games have even come close to technically challenge Crysis.

Consider other thing like:
Breakable trees:
CryEngine2: Crysis
UE3: no game to compare it with

Fully collapsible buildings:
CryEngine2: In Crysis most of those shacks can be destroyed
UE3: no game to compare it with

Foliage till the eye can see using various shaders
CryEngine2: Crysis
UE3: no game to compare it with

Fully dynamic wind and weather effects that effects many object in the world:
CryEngine2: Crysis
UE3: no game to compare it with

Its so easy to make a barren worlds like Mass Effect or Borderlands, run fast. But for an engine to render 1000's of trees with branches and leaves being effected by wind and the player, will make any PC crawl to its knees.

Both engines are great though. UE3 engine is really good, especially drawing close nitty gritty details, like great indoor scenes. Where as crysis was designed for more open landscapes.

Quite wrong in fact. It was a very intelligent shooter. Have you even played it? Most people who haven't played it assume it's all looks and no game. It couldn't be farther from the truth. It's an excellent game too.

Yeah great game. Though it did have some problems.

You can have a lot of fun if you put a little effort into the game instead of the usual standing there shooting legions of brain dead lemmings that are running at you..... which is all the rage nowadays.

I enjoyed stalking and toying with my Korean prey :D

I am not arguing how awesome the CryEngine can, and special notice should be taken of that CAN, My problem with Crysis has always been and still is that any dev team worth they paycheques can set out and make a game with narly physics and mind blowing visuals if they designed it to run on super computers that only NASA use. The true mark of a dev team is one who can give you all the above but on a syster that normal, non rocket scientist, people can use and afford. Crysis is like the Bugati Vyron. Its pretty, its amazingly fast but its not a practical thing. If you owned one you wouldn't drive to work everyday.

As for gameplay, yes i played it all the way to the alien attack and then decided it was a general waist of time. The gameplay is nothing extraordinary. OOOO you can turn invisible for 20seconds if you stand very very still. Woopy doo. The enemies have the usual 5 second memory. "someone just sniped by buddy from that bush overthere.... ooo lets get back to patrolling." The vechicle sections are, for lack of a better word... shit. And Next time i want to play as a korean, why i hear you ask... coz they have super telescopic vision and can spot me from several miles away, under water and still shoot the fleas of my back with pin point accuracy, until they forget im there and bugger off. And what ever happened to open world, the thing this engine was obviously designed for? "Explore the Island" it said, but you cant because the is a great big cliff in the way so shut up and follow this linear pass we have set out for you. Bah!
The only thing Crysis has going for it is its looks. If i am to upgrade my pc(this was back when it was originally released) to a R20 000 beast just to play a game i would want that game to outsign even the second comming not just show me pretty trees that fall over when i pew pew at it.

Just take away the physics and the mind blowing graphics and you are left with a fps thats been done a thousand of times. The nano suit was fine but it was just a gimmick imo.

/Wants a reward for Resurrecting this old thread and then most people post in it :p

Well when is the next crysis coming out crysis 2 or something?

Back to the Engines; on my modest PC (2 yr old notebook) Crysis runs very well. I feel CryTek created one HELL of an engine in CryEngine 2. I have to down grade my graphics severely and it's still awesome to look at (and play). It far exceeds Dunia (Far Cry 2) which chokes at lower settings. It still looks better then any recent game I've played.
