Awesome! Will keep an eye out for you! Nic Seems familiar though

Played quite a bit on Saturday night, was really cool. But there was an extremely verbal player and was sprouting some interesting use of words, with some special racist terms. Really wasn't cool and I forgot to report him, his name was chicken something. I really hope I see him again, and I pray ppl report him.

Unfortunately you get that on every online game! Those kind of guys want attention, best thing is jsut to report and ignore. Not to keep fanning the flame

Just deranked from DMG :/ MM system is cruel sometimes !

Well if you've just deranked from DMG, I probably won't see you in MM for a while :p I'm still only Nova 2 so I normally play with the Nova 3 and 4s with the occasional MG :) I do warm up a bit in the AIM servers though.

I try not play too much during the week cause it just ruins me for work the next day since it never ends up just being 1 game and before you know it, it's past midnight :p

Hahahaha that is very very true! Ranked up again, so might be a bit longer till I see you in game =D

How long did it take you to get to DMG? Took me forever to get out of Silver >.< Although I'm finding Nova at least is a lil' more enjoyable since most people seem to play as a team so I'm guessing it's easier to rank up since you don't just get owned 16-0 :p

Think I was MG after my first 10 ranked games. solo queuing also doesn't help much to rank up. Get a group of guys you play with often. And that have microphones!!!

Lol what the?! You must be ridiculous then :p I think after my 1st 10 MM games I was put in Silver 2 and it's taken me like 90 MM wins to get to N2 :/

The MM ranking system is a bit flawed imo. It is very strange. Apparently lots of factors determines ranking up or down, not only team performance but your own as well. But sometimes you will win 10 games and not rank up, and loose 1 after that and then derank

K so here is my noob question of the day.

From the convo above I gather that there are ranks that can be achieved in CSGO, through some form of a ranking system. Could you guys elaborate a little for me? I literally just live on the intoxicated servers, never knew some form of ranking existed.

So the Intoxicated servers are just the casual servers where they'll have AIM or FFA DM or just your plain old 12v12 casual where everyone just runs around trying to get kills :)

If you play competitive then you enter a lobby where you can either invite your friends or you can play with random people in a 5v5 match. This is closer to what CS is more about where there's actually a point to the game other than kills. This is the type of gameplay they'll play in the comps.

Playing matchmaking earns you ranks (see ranks above). So you'll start as unranked and you'll be required to play 10 games before it gives you a rank. Once you have a rank the matchmaking system will try and match you against people of similar skill/rank. The ranks themselves are supposed to be determined by the Elo system (how ranking works in Chess). So you'll gain or lose points for doing certain things and then either rank up or down. So things like kpd ratio, mvps, rounds won etc will gain you points depending on the skill of your opponent.

Once you start competitive there's no going back to casual. You just gotta push past the initial learning curve :)

How was does this work locally? Are u often paired up with oversees players?

Nah, there are a bunch of local matchmaking servers. I think most of them are now located in Cape Town though. I think there's also a command you can type in the console to change the search so it has a maximum ping for a server :)

For the most part the servers work well. Some nights it does get busy and you can wait a bit and they're also only 64 tick rate :(
