CS:GO official discussion thread

You can use the matchmaking service in CS:GO to play in a competitive environment, but you'll play on international servers with a high ping, which gives you a major disadvantage. You can however play in a competitive environment with the South African community using IRC...

Oh OK. That doesn't really affect me :p

Wow, was just thinking of getting into this. What PC specs are needed? How much is it on steam? (yes I'm new here, in that dept anyway)

Shot! I have an i7 with 8gig RAM laptop. Graphics is a Geforce GT 555M. Struggled to run Bf3 so I gave up on games after that, think I'll get this and see how it runs.

Should run fine... You can always put it on low anyway "whistling:

It will easily hit 60fps, I just lock mine to 65/70 otherwise my GPU heats up and my fan starts to speed up causing it to be noisy.

Haha, you kid but I had to run Bf3 at something ridiculous like 800x600 (can't exactly remember but it was way below FHD) with everything turned off just to get above 40fps.

Sweet, amped.

Anyone tried played at 1024x768 with screen resizing from nVidia control panel? Apparently the pro's play like that, but all I can think of it's going to be compressed then stretched out again so it will smooth everything out and give you 200+ fps which IMO is pointless if you have a 60hz monitor. While the game will feel smoother I will just cause unnecessary heat on your GPU.

I was reading about it on TeamLiquid Forums and have seen a few Redditors using it as well. I can assume it's easier to see larger player models than smaller ones? There is also a console command that makes all the textures all one colour, but it's considered as cheating in competitive.
