Dark Souls 2 Thread

Finally took down my first boss. :D The Last Giant, was actually very easy. A few minutes later I met the Pursuer and a few seconds later I was dead. Tried one more time, but the same thing happened. Will try again tomorrow or go after the Dragonrider instead.

I've tried Dragonrider twice, first I went through the fog and rolled off into the water =P second time I got him down by half. Doesn't seem to bad. But yeah tomorrow another day, starting to rage... Better quit now before I have to buy a new TV.

Two of my friends have already beaten the Dragonrider. Both of them went towards the Dragonrider instead of heading towards the Forest of the Fallen Giants like I did. The Last Giant was pretty much the easiest boss in all 3 games for me so far, but the Pursuer is no push-over. Still have some exploring to do around this area here so I might do that and level up a bit before facing him again, or the Dragonrider for that matter.

Make sure to pull all the levers before you get to him, that way you can't fall down during the fight.

I ended up re-rolling yesterday after I made a few too many bad decisions on my character stats and equipment upgrades. That was about 16 hours and 6 bosses of play time, but in about a third that time on my new character I got 4 bosses down including Dragon Rider.

Absolutely absorbed into the game atm, love it! :D

Just curious but has anyone used many (if any) of their Human Effigy?
And how much of your health bar are you running around with?

I'm down to 50% of course =P

Got to no mans wharf damn it gets nasty in there and the boss is a real bastard.Beotek I use my Human effigy when my health gets to low and you get a reasonable amount of them so if you are desperate you can use it.Totally hooked on this game.

When listening to or reading the reviews, they make it seem like they're scarce. Thanks for the heads up.

I have 5 human effigies, but I haven't used one yet, also running around at 50% health. I think I'll only use an effigy if I want to summon someone to my world, which I probably will do when I take on the pursuer again.

I joined the Champions covenant so I can not summon people makes it quite a lot harder lol.I am using the swordsman class took quite long to get the hang of playing without a shield.I have not been invaded yet have any of you guys been?

When I found out what that covenant does I immediately turned around and swore never to return there. :p

I did summon someone now to help with the pursuer, but it seems I'm still to weak for it. Will farm around Heide's Tower for a bit and explore more there (just killed the Dragonrider). Have not been invaded yet and I don't plan on doing any invading myself either.

Third attempt at DragonRider and failed. Anywho... That is with 50% health.
I burned an Effigy and it didn't restore my original health? Just stops players invading I think. What gives!?

I made the same mistake with burning the Effigy, you are supposed to just use it from your inventory to return to human form.

hahaha... that might explain it. They do however seem to be quite regular, I think I have about 12 built up.

yup, as WLAD said, you need to USE from inventory, instead of burning at bonfire. and i am running around (hollowed) with 75% health. you guys need to equip the RING OF BINDING. you find it in Heides, at the top of the drawbridge in a chest near a mist door. from the bonfire, follow linear path till circular room, then turn left and upward.

This is good advice, it makes a huge difference especially at lower health so instead of 50% HP you will be on 75%.

I found the Greatsword yesterday and once I got my strength up to 28 I started using it. Hot damn it weighs a ton but it's beastly and surprisingly fast. :D

You guys early game, do you prefer to put souls into upgrading weapons and armour or levelling up?

For the early game I don't level at all, I buy all the useful items like Pharos Lockstone, Keys, Throwing Knives, Bolts/Arrows. After the first boss I usually level a bit and start upgrading my current main weapon.

i leveled only as far as required to wield the weapons i wanted to, i.e. Fire Longsword needed 10 STR and 11 DEX and bow needed 12 DEX. i then spent souls upgrading weapons. Got Fire Sword to +3 and Catalyst to + 4 :)

i tackled Forest Giant last night and killed him on first attempt. im level 40 at the moment and now slowly working towards the next boss, which i believe is MUCH tougher :(

if i can offer any words of advice it would be :
Get the RING OF BINDING and CLORANTHY RING asap! both can be obtained really early on with minimal effort and make a huge difference.

I try to devide all the souls I get between levelling up and buying/upgrading gear. If I kill a few enemies and have like 3000 or 4000 souls I level up a bit and when I kill a boss I usually use about half of the souls to level up and the rest for my gear. If I can't upgrade anything or don't need new gear, I just level up. Level 27 ATM I think.

Maybe someone can help. I have been hunting yesterday and today for the dialogue of The Emerald Herald.

Does anyone use any specific wiki sites for Dark Souls, as the everywhere I'm looking I can't find anything.
