Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.................... here I go again.
Another fix has begun, I get to work and all I can do is think Dark Souls, wikis, stories, builds, thoughts, etc.
Not looking forward to Dark Root Basin again, along with Blighttown (may even skip this one).
I tried this now that GFWL is gone. Loaded it, mashed some buttons, got confused and quit. How the hell am I supposed to know what "B" is? It sure as hell isn't "B" on the keyboard.
I just can't get used to that darned confined space when fighting him.
That and Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough were the bane of my existence.
Hmm... I've got two Fire Keeper souls which I have used, one from Undead Burg and the other from Anor Londo Ruins (took a suicide run). Will probably defeat Bell Gargoyle tonight. Then thinking of making my way into Valley of Drakes to take the back entrance (or exit) to Blighttown to then take on Quelaag.
Wondering if I should attempt Capra - I have never actually beaten him to be honest.
Edit: What builds have you guys gone with or aiming for?

I honestly don't understand the mechanics in this game. What the hell am I supposed to do?

Do not go down the wrong path. This game is the epitome of non-hand-holding.
Google walkthroughs, I had to - a lot!
Well I read a thing that the creator use to read western fantasy and he said he only understood bits of it and said thats what he had in mind for the game. Thats why you only get bits of itbloody japs.
He wanted the player to create his own story basically.
Basically exploration with the intent of utter failure. The game temps you with progress as well as it tries to hinder it. Personally I spent about 20 minutes with the game then gave it a pass. A few months later I thought: "What the hell, let's give it a shot!". I was hooked.
The game rewards you with simple progress. Be it reaching the next safe point or finally beating that boss, it's brilliant.
Dude! If you ever need help I'll gladly join you on TS or Skype and talk about this game for hours. I even get joy out of other people experiences from this game. It's easier over voice/voip than text.
Naah, don't use walkthroughs!
Yes and no. It's true that Miyazaki could barely read english and thus could only make out certain thing and loved the western culture. Thus when reading a story he could only piece together certain things which never made sense, so he let his mind fill in the gaps. Same kinda applies to DS. The lore is so deep and so many holes in it, which allows yourself (and the community) to fill in the gaps and speculate. Again, I could talk for hours about he story/lore.
This is exactly it. Once you get stuck into it and understand the mechanics, it becomes so damn rewarding and enjoyable despite all the dying, I don't even get frustrated by dying any more.
Edit: Thought I should mention, the only reason I've never finished this on PC is I found this game out by myself (and recommendations) and thus had NO help or references. That and a mixture of an Dragon Slayer and Executioner and hackers really put me off it. A while down the line I moved to PS3.

I've been trying to figure it out for over 3 hours now and I still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I've been stuck in the first area after the "Tutorial" forever.
