Dark Souls

Solitude

Mr. Nice Guy
There's a couple of threads about Dark Souls on MyGaming and they are all in the wrong place. There's one for console gaming and there's one for PC gaming and there's news related threads and hell there's probably one in Off Topic too.

So instead of performing thread necromancy I will create this new, more improved thread that covers all of the other.

See, Zero Punctuation finally reviewed Dark Souls! Yay! Two of my favourite things!

So those who still need to play it and want to find out why it's good and for those who have already played it and remember it fondly:

I've basically just started after it's been lurking at me in my Steam library for ages now...... it's hard

Am I the only person that finds Zero Punctuation exceptionally annoying?

I also bought it on Steam sale and I haven't installed it.

All this talk and threads about Dark Souls... I think I'm going to pop in my Disc today and continue.

There's something I wanted to confirm. That ring you get that makes you 99% immune to lava, would that ring work against fighting the HellKite Dragon?

I only thought of this fact after I finished, but by then in the 2nd playthrough the ring was no longer there.

Then I suggest you start playing it :p

For the ninth time you mean? What's the third boss in the game - that one - never got past him.
And for some reason I struggled insanely with the Taurus Demon. I had nightmares about him.

Dude, when I first encountered the Taurus Demon my stomach turned into a knot and my arse made like a rabbit's nose.

Bosses in order (from what I can remember):
1. Asylum Demon
2. Hellkite Dragon
3. Bell Gargoyles
4. That big ass Moth
5. Capra Demon

Well then again, it depends on which route you take? Since your 3rd boss could have been different for me?

I love Dark Souls. I love Zero Punc. totally agree with Solitude. Two thinks i like coming together? why its like Cheese and Golden Syrup on Toast :D

edit : Capra Demon alone was tough. But those F*&^ING DOGS!!!

Uh.........it was something like this:

1) That first bit.

2) Undead Burg

3) Death

4) More death

5) That first bit again

6) Undead Burg

7) Taurus Demon

8) Death

9) That first bit again

10) Undead Burg

11) Taurus Demon

12) \:D/

13) Death

You get the idea.

Nah, he wasn't tough. It was just that confined space that messed with you.

There was some glitch where you could hit him from up the stairs because he was too big to get to you. I tried this.
He got to me. I screamed like a little girl and jumped down.

Actual trick is to get rid of the dogs as soon as you enter the fight.

You can write a book about Dark Souls and only use those words. I'm telling you it could be a top seller! :D

It only works for the lava. Fire resistance rings and armour pieces with fire resistance are your only defense against the Hellkite Dragon's fire. There are however multiple ways to cheese him without getting burnt.

The Capra Demon was by far the hardest boss for me in Dark Souls. I remember dying to him well over 20 times before finding a way that worked for me.

After getting his tail off, and playing through the game and getting back to him, I took him head on. By some luck I managed to avoid most his attacks and got him.

2nd time around though, he hands my ass to me.

I forgot how technical and intricate this game can be. And it doesn't help that my LB button on my controller isn't working properly.

ROFL! I agree... That was some of the best writing I heard in a while... giggled like a little girl in the office, luckily no one hear me... I hope.

@Malice. Use the tower at the beginning of the area to do a drop attack for extra damage. Then just stick around his crotch and roll away when he attacks.
