Day Z: The ULTIMATE Zombie mod / game.

I just got linked to it today by a friend before reading this... To be honest, it looks like the makings of epicness!

Is this the next counter-strike perhaps?
 
playing on the local server last night was just too epic for words!
This mod is amazing. When they get the in game voip working properly in game it will make it all the more realistic.
 
I will be getting into this probably after payday this month :D i am too keen!!!

How many local players so far? anyone know?

The server currently has 25 slots, we're planning on upping it to 50 later today. The server was up for around 10 minutes yesterday, then it was filled with local players.

I've posted a thread up on the nag forums, here. It contains some basic rules as well as some gameplay hints and tips for beginners.

You can also post there if you've got any issues or complaints regarding the server and/or other players.

Keep your eyes on the NAG thread as I keep posting useful links, info or maps regarding the game.
 
would be keen to get a decent size group later in the week to do a raid on the bigger grocery stores in the towns.
Also hoping to pick up a bigger backpack.

Yeah. That rule is just more to say that nobody can officially claim a town/area as 'theirs', as in nobody is allowed to take it from them. If you have the strength and numbers to keep other people out, do so, but if someone takes it from you, or occupies it while you're offline, it's fair game.

I mostly just put the rule in because I've seen people on other servers claim places as their own, then kick up a fuss when other players forcibly 'evicted' them. One player on a US server even asked to kick the player who occupied 'his' deer stand.

Also, this guy from EA last year;

"Modding is a declining trend actually," said Patrick Bach, the executive producer on Battlefield 3, in an interview with Gameplanet. "It’s sad to say. We’ve seen some cool mods but since games are getting more complicated to build, it’s also getting more complicated to mod them, so it’s a declining trend as we see it. Sad but true."

Also, something that few people know is that you can change the look of your character in the game. Just go to Profile (in the main menu), click yours and change the face and voice, as well as glasses. It should show up in-game in the mod.

Wow. I wouldn't be so bold as to claim this is the best game ever made, but I will say, this s the best game I've ever played.

Tonight was simply amazing.
 
ye, I can agree with that! It was pretty cool playing into the night. A few of us made it up onto the hill beyond Cherno when it got dark, and started a campfire to cook some meat got from a boar. Lit flares on the hill side below to light the way for other friendlies who were in the town. There was risk for bandits seeing it - but we spread out on top of hill just in the treeline and had the hill top covered with scoped weapons for any that may cross into the light with sinister intentions. Friendly made it to us running from two zed's who we managed to take out before he got eaten.

This game ROCKS!
 
I spawned on the NAG server yesterday afternoon. Made it to a small hut and got swamped by zeds. Killed 6, ran out of ammo and ran away (swam away)

How do I know where I am and how to find other people? And how does the voice chat work?

Also do I just load @dayz with CO and nothing else?
 
Yep. There are still a lot of compatibility issues with other mods, even performance/graphic mods, so to be on the safe side, use only DayZ for now.

Also, everyone. remember to update to 1.5.8.2, which was released last night.
