DayZ Standalone pre-Alpha - Finally here

Get Rust instead. It's cheaper too.

I saw that. Unfortunately, the whole minecraft thing doesn't really appeal to me :p
Also my noob friends jumped in and bought it. Deciding if I should be noob and join them or stick with logic, pending answers to above question :o

The DayZ SA isn't that bad, but I think for a game where the developers didn't have to write an engine from scratch and had more than a year to work on it, it's in a pretty shocking state. It's not even on par with the mod at this point so, in my humble opinion, anyone looking to play DayZ will likely be much better off playing the mod for now.

How many SA players are there at the moment? I'm itching to buy it!

Well, i've seen 2 servers thats full at night 40/40 and then on the others about 10 - 20 players, so if you gonna buy it there will be players to play with, but then again you don't really want players as they just kill you when they see you, so the less players on a server the better if you new thats a good start.

I decided to take a break until a few things are fixed. Lost a very geared character when I was force to switch servers, which was very off-putting.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Currently, with the lack of zombie hordes/other night terrors I don't enjoy the in-game nights due to how dark and pointless it seems. So in essence, I want to know who enjoys them and what I'm missing?

Hate it, so can't say mutch, no reason to play at night as someone will always have a advantaged those who increase the gamma settings.

Oh, that clarifies the question for me. :p

Yeah I hate playing at night, especially cuz of the buggy zombie AI, it's just too likely to get you killed. The game just needs a proper day/ night cycle and servers that don't restart every 4 hours.

So I went and bought it...
Must say, I had a lot of lol moments when playing it. The bugs/glitches providing more entertainment than it should.
Hunting grievers and bambi killers are quite exhilarating. :D

At it's current state, it's best enjoyed with a group playing "hero".

Playing at night has an insanely awesome atmosphere, but it seems like a waste since your building clear time is so much longer... If you're struggling from one food find to another it seems like its smart to just playing during the day

Yeah, kinda wish gMz would have another server run sunrise at 5pm real-time.

I just can't justify paying R300 for it yet. that's like lotto money for me at this stage. but as soon as it goes on some kind of special I'm on it like spammers on a myg comp :D

Seeing as Bohemia Interactive is the publisher, I highly doubt you'll see anything bigger than 30% off for the next two years, at least. Those guys know what a cash-cow DayZ is and they won't give up a cent more than they have to.

Definitely. Given the fact that it's in Pre-Alpha also suggests the price will only be going up if you take ARMA 3's pricing from alpha to release into account.

Hey,
Just a heads for all the people gaming on capped internet.
DayZ early access mows through data quickly.
Last night's session, which was about 2hours, chowed 1Gb.

The social aspect of meeting random people is epic lol.
Went up to greet a dude, he/she took takes a spade, turned into a short episode of road runner vs the coyote. :D
