Demon's Souls PS3

I just finished the game! Woohoo :D Man, what a briilliant game this is, am definitely moving on to new game + immediately. After finishing the game I have to say that this was one of the most difficult (if not the most difficult) but rewarding games I have ever played. It gets a 10/10 in my books and I highly recommend it to anyone. So if you're reading this and you own a PS3, GET THIS GAME ASAP! You won't regret it. :D

Just scored a second-hand copy for R350. Woohoo!

I'll post back when I'm not so occupied with Batman.

So how many hours did it take to finish?

It took me about 60 hours to finish the first playthrough, but I basically played through as fast as I possibly could. There was a lot of stuff I didn't do and a lot of places I didn't fully explore. I just wanted to finish the game once, I will spend a lot more time with the second playthrough.

Nice :D Try to do a review when you finish it. I would if I could write ...

So I finsihed the game and decided to move onto new game + and I must say it is WAY more difficult. Anyone that is playing this now: try to level up your character as much as possible before finishing the game, I cannot begin to describe how much more difficult new game + is. I finished the game with my character at level 91, if I ever play with a different character (just to try a different build) I will make sure I reach at least level 150 before going to new game +, even if it means farming for 4 hours a day to get there. I don't know how far I'll get with my current character in new game +, it is just too damn difficult. :(

60hrs? that's crazy man, it would take me until the year to get that many hours. I play too many games(wait there is no such thing) lolz :p

Lol, I also play way too much games; so much so that I neglect my other work, such as assignments for class and freelance work that I'm doing atm. I actually just started translating a contract that has to be done by tommorow morning (I got it like two weeks ago, but I couldn't tear myself away from Demon's Souls, that's basically why I rushed through the end; so I can say I finished it and focus on other stuff) :D

U rushed the game I think? You should never rush a game for the sake of other things...

Oh ok, now I get it. Yep, I must admit, I definately did rush it at the end and I'm already sorry that I didn't spend more time levelling up, as the difficulty in new game + is INSANE. I doubt that I will get very far, I just do not have the patience to redo the same level 50 times because the same enemy keeps killing me over and over. If I do play with a different character I will put at least around 100 + hours into the first playthrough and level up as much as possible.

Haha, screw that. If i use a different character, I will make sure to make him balanced between magic and swordplay. My current character is more of an archer/heavy weapon and armour carrier. Not being able to use much magic is definately a problem at this stage since a lot of enemies are vulnerable to it, and all of them are currently pwning me in melee combat :p

I should hopefully be getting my copy today: any starting tips for a noob?

Um, be extremely careful when walking around, always keep your guard up and pay very close attention to everything, especially your stamina bar, if it is depleted you can't attack or dodge at all. In the first few hours you might hate the game for its difficulty, but once you get past that and you learn to strategise you will realise that this is one of the best games EVER.

*Also do not attempt to take on the first red-eyed knight you come across, he will pwn own your @$$! Wait till your at least soul level 30*

I learnt that the hard way LOL.

Okay gents, I need some help here. This game is pwning my ass in a big way.

I'm playing as a Knight and currently pretty much every enemy is kicking the crap out of me thus far. I killed the first boss (the blob thing) and did one or two weapon and soul upgrades (as well as retrieving the valuable Cling Ring), but now I can barely venture anywhere without getting killed ad nauseum.

So...

1. Are there any upgrades I should purchase specifically?
2. What area is best to tackle first?
3. Should I be playing as another class to ease me into things?
4. When does the game save your progress?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Don't worry, the game is supposed to pwn your ass, everyone who plays this game goes through that. :D

There's nothing wrong with the Knight, it all depends on what stats you increase. After finishing the game and getting into new game + and then getting my ass handed to me 10 times harder than the first playthrough, I discovered it's best to make your character balanced between all the stats. You should try to keep your stats more or less balanced so that you can use both magic and melee attacks. If you want to be more of a magic user, upgrade your will and magic a bit higher, if melee, do the same with strength, dexterity and endurance. Also, try to get your vitality as high as possible. Just keep killing enemies and levelling up, it will get a tiny bit easier eventually.

After killing the first boss, just continue straight forward to the second boss (Tower Knight), just be careful of the red dragon on the way there. It is possible to kill him with a lot of patience and a lot of arrows. You have to stand on top one of the towers and then keep aiming where he flies and just shoot him everytime he flies over. After you kill the Tower Knight it would be a good idea to move on to the second world (Stonefang Tunnel, just make sure you take a spear or other piercing weapon with you).

The game saves after everything you do, i.e when you use moongrass, kill an enemy, die, buy something, etc. There is no way that you can quit the game when you die to prevent losing your souls. The second you take your last breath, it saves.

Hope this helps, ask away if you need more help.
