Hi All
During the Open Beta weekend, it took me almost a full day to get the game to work, struggling with things such as the "Updating Install Files" stuck at 70%, getting errors on login, etc.
Hopes that they would be fixed when the full game came along were short lived. I again ran into the "Updating Install Files" thing getting "stuck", only this time it would complete the update, and then revert, and do it again. This happened several times before I cancelled the process.
I started looking around on the internet for solutions.
The first page I got was: http://www.keenandgraev.com/2012/05/12/diablo-3-stuck-updating-setup-files-fix/
I used fixes 1, 2 and 3, just to be safe. Please note that, after using Fix 3, I restarted my PC. I would suggest deleting all Diablo 3 related content on your pc (which most likely relates to the Beta) before trying to install Diablo 3. I explored the DVD and changed the compatibility mode on the installed to Windows XP SP3, and also selected Run as Admin (even though I am the Admin, just in case).
After Finally getting my game to actually proceed to the install screen, after selecting my install folder, the installed tuned me: "Could not install. Invalid installation options.". So I closed the installer and ran it again, this time it worked for me.
Then, during installation (downloading) I got another error stating that there is a corrupt file. The solution to this problem is to delete the said file (it gives you the file path in the error message). Then run the Launcher as Admin and also in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. This worked for me.
I finally made it into D3 (after getting several Error 37's upon login) and am now going to start my Barbarian. I hope someone can benefit from what I wrote here. If not, Google is your friend.
Happy Gaming!
