Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Yeah but I noticed last night after co-op with a friend my map was pik swart again :/

I think its a matter of if you join a game you enter the friends world, leaving yours unexplored due to the random generated nature of the levels.

I helped out a friend witht he Skeleton King quest and when I was done I couldn't get back to my mission... had to restart the Broken Sword quest :/

Same thing happend with me but i was defeating the spider queen and continue the quest line.. then i joined a public game and had to re-do the queen boss, and just when i helped killing the boss for someone in my party i logged back in with my single player game and had to re-do things from their.

For those of you getting pissed at friends barging in on your game:

You can prevent people on your friend list from automatically joining your games by unchecking the "Allow Quick Join" option in the Social tab in Options (in the Esc menu), which is set by default.

If someone attempts to join your game as usual, it will notify you and ask your permission before they can hop in.

For the amount of disappointment people are throwing around about the login issue, I think blizzard has done rather well in the first 24 hours of the launch. Most of my friends were connected within 30min and playing together.

The issue may not even have been Blizzard related, it could have been their ISP where they host all their servers. Things will only get better from here, it's a great game so don't let the first 2 days of the launch affect your opinion on the game. (i.e Metacritic..)

Yeah dude, I dont understand this trend. Even the bit leading to the Skeleton king I took my sweet time again, exploring every corner to make sure I didn't miss something.

BECAUSE! There are little challenges all over the game, Jar of souls and Carrion Farm are just 2 I found :) then there are the traveling merchants as well, gota-catch-em-all!

Thank god there are 10 character slots, so I can make one of every class!

I haven't even check metacritic, has the bombing begun then?

I dont think the issue was at ISP level since most of the time I got past the "connecting bnet" & "authenticating credentials" part only the be kicked when it got to retrieving my hero list. I think it was a simple fact of Blizzard under estimating the torrent of users who would be login in & like you said as of about 9:15pm GMT last night all the way to 00:00 GMT I had a uninterrupted, mostly lag free, run. Also IMO blizzard have been very transparent with these errors there are alot of threads on the official forums where blue posts rock up explaining the issue and apologising. My personal opinion is that the collective internet is entirely too eager to jump on their soap box and scream bloody murder, yes I was disappointed when I was unable to log in, even a little cranky, but its just a game. I took the time to sit and watch a bit of TV with my wife.

True, and It would be pointless to make extra servers when the influx of players would gradually drop over the week and servers would become more stable as people go back into their work/study schedule.

I dont understand the because. Your saying rush through the game just so you can play it again? O.o
I know about little random events got to experience several of them during the beta and got some last night again, still I dont rush. I too plan on playing ever character to lvl 60 so by the time I finally roll my 3rd or 4th char I will be moving faster but the first time I prefer to let the world, the characters, the plot, all those little touches wash over me. Also as a designer I try and understand why a specific choice was made, I try and break the game almost. But to each his own.

Once the initial onslaught has settled down, and servers are a bit more stable, people will quickly forget that they are never going to buy any Blizzard games again, that they want a refund and are going to sue etc.

While I was incredibly frustrated by not being able to play yesterday, I did find it amusing to read the battle.net forums.

I also skimmed the forums, spotted several people going ape shit & a few calling on Anon to hack blizzard, because then we would be able to play, idiots.

Yeah what an awesome idea  Most comments I saw where semi annoyed but pretty much living with it.

I just hope the issues are sorted tonight. If I am left unable to play tonight, I'm not going to be the happiest man alive.

You shouldn't have any issue dude, most news site report stable servers. You might only get a slight queue when everyone who gets home from work and boot up try to log in.

Yeah, knowing Blizzard, they would make sure things are sorted asap so people don't have the same bad experience two days running.

I just wish time would pass me by quicker. Estimated time of delivery is 3PM, and it is absolutely dragging by me.

At least ArmA 2 is around 400mb from completion, so I'll have that to take my mind off things for a bit.

I must say I was expecting to have quite a delay due to my latency test with speedtest.net thing with my Telkom internet but I was surprised to see it was only 290 odd in game.
