Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

While they do drop in nightmare, they drop very sparingly... the upgrades also get hellish expensive gold-wise

oh sweet!

oh the pages for BS and JC drops often in nightmare, hell i stocked up because i was saving for the second tab in the stash. I do however need a tome for the next JC upgrade :(

Yea playing a Barb, reading that as well, but finding the right gear stat combinations is proving to be difficult 100+str/100+vit, but I'm farming for those if I can't find them on the AH.

I'm playing a very bursty spec with dependency on Berserker for Elites, but yea I've seen some 88k crits and most normals I just kill with Seismic Slam(20k-40k crits).

Normal - Gold
Nightmare - Page of " and Gold
Hell - Tome of " and Gold
Inferno - Tome of Secrets and Gold

Gems at the first level after upgrading with the Tome of Secrets cost like 30k per gem cut...

At MyBroadband there's a whole section just for Diablo III and World of Warcraft. :) It's bound to happen with such a big release. When the profile pages come out there will be another thread just for profiles. I look forward to seeing everyone's characters and items.

I was actually thinking we need a thread just to compare different character builds. I am curious to see if there are drastically different builds or if they are samey.

I beat down Leoric last night....just before 11p.m. Just couldn't stop playing. As a magic-user, seldom have I felt like such a badass!

Most beta players got the starter editions from the get go. However anybody who didn't participate in the beta needs a key for the first 30 days after release after which it will be like WoW in that anybody can create a battlenet account and try the Diablo starter edition.
 
Omega, I have to say thanks, I tested out your build last night. Except for the fact that I managed to freak out everyone in the group constantly with the bright orange beam (they thought at first it was one of the mobs :P aka like those purple lazers you get from blue mobs), my survivability has definitely increased altho I still swopped frost nova for the time bomb - I dont like to be right in the middle of a fight, since that kills me fast :P

What stats are you currently looking for, Im going for loads of vitality, intelligence and strength. I have also found that so far, it is better to go for a 2hander axe or hammer that gives me better over all stats than a one hander and off hand. (but then again I havent found any truly amazing off hand items as of yet). Currently I am equipping an axe that looks really silly but awesome at the same time.

Im glad that build helped you. Yeah I swapped frost nova out early on for Diamond Armour as it really can save your ass, same with timebomb, when you get swamped throw diamond armour & timebomb then blast away with Disintegrate. Did you manage to find the balance between using disintegrate and then filling up arcane energy with a signature spell?

At the moment Im mostly co-oping with Spooner using my Barbarian. I will probably play more wizard come the weekend. I am maximising her int to boost damage output. Her DPS is simply insane.
 
From what I have been reading the past couple of days, dont slot gems for int, go for damage gems. Also go for damage weapons and not int - the overall damage from that is apparently higher than if you concentrate on dps. Oh I have found that I have loads of arcane power, takes a bit to run thru it all fast, but I just use electrocute to fill it up in a few secs.

I want to play a bit with the passive skills that I have so far (lev35 already) to see which boosts dmg and arcane regen the most.

I also want to test out if using the familiar with the sparkflint rune, as well as magic weapon will boost my dmg. If I succeed at getting my distance and kiting right again (so out of practice), I will let the barbarian and monks in my group take the most damage :P And concentrate on doing as much dmg as possible.

SO far the mirror images have felt like a let down since they cannot cast most of out skills unless we use arcane missiles or the orbs. But what I love about the wizard is the fact that there are many options to cover most play styles.

Yeah electrocute is awesome and together with Prodigy passive skill it fills up Arcane energy super fast. I found Familiar to be a joke, will check it out later when it has a few runes to choose from.

I have a wicked wand with a Ruby in it that kicks ass but gems in the Armor don't boos damage so popping a topaz in there for int boost yielded good results.
 
First things first: everybody, go change your Battle.net passwords. I have to imagine that someone at Blizzard uttered the phrase “Besides, what else could possibly go wrong” over the weekend, prompting the god of comedically cruel timing to bring its massive whack-a-mole hammer down on Blizzard’s doorstep. And so: hackers! Diablo III‘s official forums are currently rife with tales of items and gold going missing and characters even being hijacked wholesale. Even Eurogamer has firsthand experience. Now, though, Blizzard’s attempting to play knight-in-increasingly-tarnished-armor once again.


At the very least, Blizzard is now acknowledging the issue. You will, however, need to be patient for a bit longer. A Blizzard rep explained on the forums:
